As a wolf advocate, with early voting underway in Minnesota and Election Day on Tuesday, November 8, are you wondering whether your candidates are wolf friendly?   The Howling For Wolves’ website has information about MN state and federal candidates and about the Wisconsin federal senate race.  These website sections were developed using past voting records when available, public statements, and responses to a candidate survey sent to all Minnesota candidates for state senate and house offices.

Minnesota’s Four Wolf Champions
Several political leaders have shown unwavering support and strong advocacy for the wolf in both their words and actions. Congresswoman Betty McCollum (Minnesota’s 4th Congressional District) is Minnesota’s champion working in Washington, DC. State Senator Chris Eaton (MN District 40, DFL-Brooklyn Center), State Senator Chuck Wiger (MN District 43, DFL-Maplewood), and State Representative Paul Rosenthal (MN District 49B, DFL-Edina) all earned their champion levels through their work in St. Paul in the state legislature. Find specifics on the work of these four wolf champions here.

Federal Candidate Information on Wolf Issues
We have information about select political candidates for the U.S. House of Representatives in Minnesota and the U.S. Senate in Wisconsin. Please see the page about the federal candidates’ records and stances on wolf issues here.

State Legislative Candidate Survey Responses on Wolf Issues
Howling For Wolves sent a questionnaire to every state legislative candidate for the Minnesota State House and state Senate asking their positions on key pieces of legislation previously debated and voted upon in the legislature, as well as issues we anticipate will be considered in the future. These include repealing the wolf hunt and stopping all wildlife snaring. Many candidates gave us their responses which can be found on the Howling For Wolves website here.

Votes by the MN House of Representative on Pro-Wolf Legislation:
We have catalogued votes from last session on pro-wolf legislation. Learn more about how your incumbent state house member voted on wolf issues this past May here.

We hope you find this information helpful and that you help us spread the word with your fellow wolf advocates.

With your support and active work, we are moving forward for the wolf.
