Dear Friends -
Days are getting shorter, the temperature is (finally!) dropping... and we're heading into post-season baseball! It's hard to type this newsletter when my fingers are crossed for my Nationals!
Nevertheless, here's the perfect October Cocktail (for lovers of baseball, lovers of romance, and lovers of good, plain fun!)

Ingredient One: A No-Cost Baseball Romance Book Giveaway
To celebrate the end of summer, I’ve teamed up (see what I did there?) with twenty-nine other baseball romance authors to give away a huge collection of novels, PLUS a Kindle Fire!
One lucky winner will receive my Diamond Brides novel Catching Hell, plus more than two dozen other books from authors like VK Sykes and CD Reiss! Enter the giveaway by clicking here:

But hurry! The contest ends on October 10!

Ingredient Two: Getting Away From It All...
Last month, I attended the Novelists, Inc. conference in St. Petersburg, Florida. I got to catch up with old friends, make new friends, and learn a bunch of new techniques for getting books to great readers like you.
Of course, the conference wasn't all work. I woke up early one morning for a walk on the nearly deserted beach, where I saw herons, egrets, pelicans, skimmers, gulls, and great schools of fish. All that wildlife was set against an amazing backdrop of the Gulf of Mexico, with clouds that seemed on fire from the sunrise behind me. Here's one of my favorite pictures from the conference!

Ingredient Three: Gifts for Readers, Writers, and the People who Love Them
It's never too early to shop for holiday gifts (or birthday gifts or just-because-you're-my-friend gifts, or, or, or...)
The Maryland Romance Writers are sponsoring an auction with dozens of fantastic items for writers and readers. From gift baskets to books to all sorts of hands-on advice for writers, the auction has something for everyone on your gift list! Alas, though, the auction only runs until October 24. After that date, these items will be gone forever!
I'm giving away a critique of thirty pages from your current work-in-progress. Given my demanding publishing schedule, this is the only editing work I'll be doing for at least the next six months, so place your bid today!
