Dear <<First Name>>

a warm and pretty excited welcome to the October 2016 Edition of our Cybus newsletter! Fall is well known for a vast variety of events, conferences and shows across the whole country and Europe. For startups like us, it's sometimes not that easy to decide which one to attend. Especially when you are hosting Germany's greatest industry hackathon End of September, like we did ;-) More about that in this newsletter. Enjoy!

What The Data!?

From 23rd to 25th September Germany's greatest industry hackathon took place in Hamburg. For us it was already one of the most exciting things this year. Not only in terms of gathering with other experts, innovators, and makers, but also for the fantastic experience to see the fun and dedication of all participants, having a full weekend to discuss, develop and design amazing cool new ideas and prototypes.

The hackathon was hosted by Cybus in co-operation with Dezera and the University of applied sciences Hamburg (HAW Hamburg). Around 50 people came together over the weekend to develop new ideas and new data-driven business cases at Technology Center Energy Campus in Hamburg, a high-tech energy research facility of HAW Hamburg with access to all energetic installations, the venue’s sensors and several sponsored industrial devices.

Some fun facts around the hackathon:

In total, 30,000 (yes, thirty thousand!)
different data points were available

During the whole weekend, 40 million (!) single data sets
were processed through the Cybus

Participants consumed around 3kg of coffee &
843 bottles of beverages (that’s roughly 293 liters)

They cumulated over 700 man-hours of development &
32 kWh of computing capacity

We are currently preparing the outcome of this great weekend, including video and picture footage, as well as some nice presentations of the designed and created ideas and technological solutions. Some videos are already online:

> The Finals (YouTube-Video Stream of the team presentation on Sunday)
> The solution of Markus Ulsaß and his team on tape
> A nice timelapse of the machine park area at the Energy-Campus

More to follow on our What The Data!? website soon :)

New Partnership with OptimData

We warmly welcome OptimData as our new IIoT-Partner

Not too long ago Laurent Couillard came to visit us in our office in Hamburg. Since then we sat down together many times with the great result of a brand new partnership. OptimData, located in Paris, France, is an innovative R&D lab dedicated to the development of data centric applications for the B2B markets.

Their huge expierience in industrial digital transformation is a great benefit for offering our customers a holistic scope of IIoT services. #LOVEMACHINES

First Dating-Platform for Industry Devices

No kidding. We take the Industrial Internet of Things to the next level. For that, we launched the first dating platform for industrial devices and components. On www.industry.love, you can meet lonely devices, connect with them, put your own device profile online and much more. Industry 4.0 is not only about work, work, work (as Rihanna would put it). It's also about building new connections and get to meet / learn someone / something new. Let's share the love and check out www.industry.love.

Last, but not least... our IIoT-Review

Cybus in Media

Check out the great interview our CPO, Marius Schmeding, gave last month to Elektrotechnik, Germany's leading magazine for the engineering and manufacturing industry, which created some nice buzz for Cybus. You can find the (german) interview here: "Herr der Daten bleiben - Die Alternative zur klassischen Cloud"

Brief review of past events

Our team attendend to several events during the last weeks. With some great new contacts and many highly interesting leads for new business opportunities. We have been invited to speak at exclusive events such as...

... the McKinsey Capability Forum in Berlin,

... the French German Business Forum (organized by German Handelsblatt and French Les Échos, with further distinguished speakers such as the finance ministers Michel Sapin and Wolfgang Schäuble, Siemens' Gerhard Cromme, among others) in Paris,

... and the Kongress Industrie 4.0 by the Venture Forum Neckar, in the region with the highest density of world market leading "hidden champions",

... Software Advisory Days in Stockholm, hosted by Technia Transcat,

... Business Forum Velden in Austria, invited by Pioneers Unplugged.

All of those events identified themselves as highly relevant for us. Therefore, we are pretty sure to present to you within the next newsletters some first results as outcomes of those participations.

To briefly sum up those three out of many events: We experience a steadily growing and highly dynamic movement in industry-, VC-, and it-sector regarding industry 4.0. What makes us especially proud is to see, that we are right at the forefront of Industrial Internet of Things requirements with our Cybus ConnectWare. We will report to you in a not too distant future. For the moment we would like to direct your attention to some highly interesting articles, which popped up lately. In our opinion a very nice conclusion of how important IIoT is for Germany and in general in a global perspective:

> [t3n, German] Digitalisierung: Darum darf die deutsche Industrie noch hoffen

> [McKinsey Digital] Industry 4.0 after the initial hype Where manufacturers are finding value and how they can best capture it

> [Business Insider US] Will the Internet of Things be bigger than the Industrial Revolution?

What we are working on right now

As you know, we are in an intense phase of further developing our solution to even better fit the future upcoming requirements of Industrial Internet of Things.

One major news is our "Plug & Play" Cybus ConnectBox. We extended our ConnectWare as a virtual machine over to a physical box to fulfill highest security standards. One of many features is the equipped TPM module, as well as worldwide pickup & return service. Feel free to ask us for more information on the brand new Cybus ConnectBox!

That's it for this edition. If you know someone, who might be interested in what we do, feel free to tell him/her about Cybus and our newsletter!

Best regards,
– Laurent and Your Cybus Team
