CALL FOR ARTISTS- Seeking older lesbian artists for ACE funded project: Love Language 57.
As part of a new art project exploring themes of sexuality, spirituality and death from an older lesbian perspective, lead artist Veronique Maria is seeking professional artists who are lesbian-identified and who are aged 57+ to receive a free 12-month mentoring program and participate in a peer development group.
About the project:
Veronique Maria is an artist, artists’ mentor and coach. Aged 57, as she turns towards 60, she wants to explore the topics of sex, love, loss, grief, spirituality and death more deeply with other gay women, as part of informing her ongoing art practice on the same themes.
In exchange, she is offering a 12-month one-to-one mentoring program and participation in a peer development group. On achieving successful funding from Arts Council England, Veronique Maria will work with four older lesbian artists on these topics. This represents a rare and important opportunity for an often-ignored group to unite in powerful and potentially life-changing dialogue, as we grapple with these provocative and taboo themes in our own lives and work.
While the selected artists need not be working on these themes directly in their work, an attitude of openness and a willingness to connect and to take creative risks is important for this project.
There is no cost for participation, and all self-identified lesbian women, aged 57+, who are professional artists are encouraged to apply.  Please send expressions of interest to lead artist, Veronique Maria, with your website and/or CV and a brief covering note to veroniquemaria@icloud.com
Deadline 16 October 2016

OPEN CALL FOR PROPOSALS: HOOKED
Science Gallery at King’s College London is seeking proposals for its future art / science collaboration season all about addiction and recovery. HOOKED will be Science Gallery London’s inaugural exhibition when it opens in 2018. The three-month season will delve into the complex worlds of addiction and recovery and will comprise a full exhibition and associated events programme, held within the new Gallery space on King’s Guy’s Campus in London Bridge.
From gambling to gear and Facebook to fags, humans are vulnerable to addiction. The HOOKED season will question: Do the things that get us hooked actually make life worth living? Why do we become addicted – to fill an inner void? And how do we build a society where we look for happiness in one another rather than in consumer goods?

Science Gallery London is seeking up to 14 exhibits/installations and five events for this season. Proposals will be funded up to a maximum budget of £2,000 and one outstanding original work may be commissioned with a higher budget of up to £5,000. Costs should cover all artist fees, travel and materials. Please note that these are maximum amounts, not targets.
The Science Gallery open call model means that anyone with a good idea can submit a proposal but the panel will be particularly looking for proposals that include creative collaborations between science and art. More information on the call for applications can be found at https://opencall.sciencegallery.com/hooked
