The Five Finger Prayer

Prayer is the Foundation of Unity. When you go to Unity Village ( worldwide headquarters of Unity) near Lee's Summit , Missouri you will notice that at 11:00 AM every day, all activity stops and The Lord's Prayer, recited by Charles Fillmore, co-founder of Unity is played over the PA system in every building and on the grounds.  It is a profound experience. I would like to introduce you to "The Five Fingers Prayer."

1. Your thumb is nearest to you. Begin your prayers by praying for those closest to you. They are the easiest to remember. To pray for our loved ones is, as C. S. Lewis once said, a "sweet duty."

2. The next finger is the pointing finger. Pray for those who teach, instruct, and heal. This includes teachers, doctors, and ministers. They need support and wisdom in pointing others in the right direction. Keep them in your prayers.

3. The next finger is the tallest finger. It reminds us of our leaders. Pray for the president, leaders in business and industry, and administrators. These people shape our nation and guide public opinion.
They need God's guidance.

4. The fourth finger is our ring finger. Surprising to many is the fact that this is our weakest finger, as any piano teacher will testify. It should remind us to pray for those who are weak, in trouble, or in pain.
They need your prayers day and night. You cannot pray too much for them.

5. And lastly comes our little finger, the smallest finger of all, which is where we should place ourselves in relation to God and others. As the
Bible says, "The least shall be the greatest among you, the last shall be first.” Your pinkie should remind you to pray for yourself. By the time
you have prayed for the other four groups, your own needs will be put into proper perspective, and you will be able to pray for yourself more
effectively.

Description

During this course you will explore some of the fundamental principles of Spiritual Law and how they can be applied to your life for greater love, health, and prosperity. By studying the works of prominent Unity writers, as well as specific metaphysical and theological views as presented in Heart-centered Metaphysics, you will be encouraged to awaken your awareness and understanding of spiritual Truth. Through the consistent use of these practical principles, you will realize more of your spiritual potential and find that your life is transformed! Topics explored in this class are: The Four Functions of Consciousness, Thoughts/Feelings, The Word, Denials and Affirmations, Creation, The Twelve Powers, Developing the Twelve Powers. The third phase in metaphysical study is cultivating dominion over the ego/personality. To that end, students will be encouraged to investigate, analyze and use basic metaphysical tools for living. By developing dominion over the ego/personality, the way is opened for greater expression of the student’s innate Divine Potential.

The “I” of the Storm
Description

Relationships and life in general sometimes give rise to conflicts that can lead to stress and obstruct our ability to experience inner peace. The resolution of such conflicts can be challenging, so it is helpful to have ways to embrace the conflict and create peace in our everyday lives. This course, based on “The I of the Storm” by Rev. Dr. Gary Simmons, is designed to help students function from their heart center, demonstrate Unity principles in times of conflict and restore harmony. Students will also learn the 21-day reconciliation process and be prepared to teach an “I of the Storm” class.
