Already, we are at the end of a sweeping Biblical Worldview message series with a wrap up message: Consummation!  (Some Day Soon...).  We will read a text from Revelation 21:1-5.  In this text, the Apostle John is caught up in a vision and describes what Jesus 2nd coming to earth will be like.  How does he describe it?  What particular descriptions stand out to you or sound appealing?

I've got a couple Lord of the Rings movie clips ready to go to help comunicate the Sunday message.  Bonus!  Anyway, we live in the in between time of Jesus 1st and 2nd coming.  What should we engaged in doing in this in between time?  Just sitting around waiting or 'something else?'  I'm going with 'something else.'  See you Sunday,

Pastor Mark

Download Schedule for Fall, 2016
In download today we begin to shift from history of the church and creeds/confessions to talk about three main ways that the Christian faith has taken root and expression in actual belief and practice.  This is going to be fun as we unpack three main ways of faith expression in the lives of Christians around the world.  Come and learn these three main expressions and see perhaps where you personally may fit.  Join Mark and Deone after the service as they begin to unpack these things.

Volunteer for Dwell Classes
Children's Ministry needs 1 more volunteer for Dwell Sunday School, and a few more volunteers for Nursery. If you could volunteer your services even just once a month, it would be a tremendous help! Crestview is a community - we all need one another to help our ministries thrive. If you have questions or are available to help in any way, please email or call Jackie ASAP: children@crestviewchurch.org and 616-446-0941. Thank you and God Bless.

October 22 Movie Night! It's a must see!

Movie night, October 22
Come and join us for a movie night at the church, Because of Winn Dixie!  Invite your friends!  Saturday, October 22nd, doors open at 5:30pm with the movie showing at 6:00pm.  Bring a blanket or your favorite camp chair if you like as we eat popcorn, sip some lemonade and hot cocoa, and enjoy a movie together.  Kids we encourage you to wear your halloween costume.

Movie theme: Opal (Anna Sophia Robb), a 10 year-old girl, moves with her preacher father (Jeff Daniels) to a small town in Florida.  Lonely and missing her old friends, Opal is ecstatic to find companionship with a rambunctious little dog she names Winn Dixie, after the store where she found the pup. With Winn-Dixie's help, Opal befriends several colorful townsfolk (Cicely Tyson, Eva Marie Saint, Dave Matthews) and even begins mending her relationship with her father.

Visit from Margaret Njuguna, October 12
You are invited to join us for a POTLUCK DINNER honoring Margaret Njuguna, our missionary from Kenya on Wednesday, October 12th at 5 pm. Please bring a dish to share.
To RSVP and for directions, call Sue Erickson at 720-364-9011 or email ericksonboulder@aol.com.

This will be a wonderful opportunity to hear about Margaret’s ministry to handicapped children.  Crestview has been supporting Margaret for the past 15 or so years. She has  an incredible heart for God and for children who have been neglected and rejected often by their own family. She currently cares for 10 children and construction began in June for a new facility with room to house 30 children.

Please join us to honor and support Margaret and pray for her ministry.
Thank you, Sue Ericson

Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur), October 13
Yom Kippur is the Day of Atonement on the Jewish Calendar.  Traditionally, this time of year, the people gather together and confess their sins. James tells us in 5 v. 16:  Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.  We believe in the power and grace that comes with confession. On Thursday, October 13, Crestview will be open from 7am-7pm to allow you to drop in for a time of private prayer and confession. Mark and Eileen will also be available to listen and pray with you if that is desired.

Tithing
The Crestview Deacons encourage members and regular attendees to use a bill payment service or the Automatic Clearing House (ACH) for their regular giving. The advantages include not having to remember to write a check, continuing your giving while on vacation and providing Crestview with a more consistent revenue stream. Most banks or credit unions offer a bill payment service (call or check their web site). To set up ACH (automatic withdrawals from your checking account), ask Peter Ruh for assistance. Please ask a deacon or Joe VanAndel if you have any questions.

Message from Jess & Danny re: Light the Night Walk
We extend our gratitude to everyone who contributed and supported this fundraiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night Walk.  We raised a combined $599.29, our team raised $7,210.74, and we think that $1.1 million was raised from the walk.  It was a great event, lots of fun.

Interested in joining the Community / Bridge team?
The Community / Bridge team is one of the four ministry teams being formed under the Healthy Church initiative.  This team is responsible for social activities of the church, such as our BBQs, Bridge events, etc.  This team is also responsible for Service projects, such as BOHO.  For Crestview to be healthy, we need to nourish our existing members while always reaching out towards others, offering God's grace and love.  If interested, please contact Muffie VanAndel, (303) 444-7036 or margaret.vanandel@gmail.com.

Community Garden Plans at Crestview
Over the last few months a garden committee, (Mark, Deone, Jess, Eleanor and Eileen) have been looking into the possibility of a community garden on Crestview's large plot of land. We are still in the planning stages and would welcome feedback, comments and anyone interested in becoming more involved - either in the planning process, or tending a plot next year.

Please keep this project in your prayers - that we can build not just garden plots, but lasting relationships and community as well. And that there may be many opportunities to extend God's love and grace to our corner of Boulder.

Memory Text, Fall 2016:  Jeremiah 9:23-24
"This is what the Lord says, "Let not the wise boast of their wisdom or the strong boast of their strength or the rich boast of their riches, but let the one who boasts boast in this: that they have the understanding to know me, that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight," declares the Lord."
