Mill Street Books  - where conversations begin

Terry and I went on a road trip in September. We logged over 5,000 km, made daily decisions about what to do and where to go, ate fried green tomatoes, hiked in the Mammoth Caves, visited topiary gardens, Monticello and Lake Placid. We spent 4 nights in Nashville where Terry loved the music stores, a visit to Third Man Records, museums and a delightful evening listening to Vince Gill and the Time Jumpers. We attended a release party for Ann Patchett's new book and happily hung out in her store Parnassus Books.
It was inspiring to get away and explore small towns, discover interesting titles in independent bookstores, take in new scenery on some great hikes and return to the town we love the most. We are lucky to be part of this community where so many customers have become friends.
Fall is the best time of the year for readers. The shelves are groaning!  My sister and I went to a trade show in August and now have some fun family games in stock. Drop in for demos of Dr Einstein, Maze Racer and Go Bong!
A big HURRAH for Debbie and Jill who kept the doors open so we could take a break from our routines. We have returned excited about new vinyl, CDs and books and upcoming special events -  starting with the Street Market this Thursday night.
BE SURE TO READ THE INFO ABOUT EVENTS BELOW THE PHOTOS!
Thanks for shopping in a small independent. A grey day will pass quickly with a good book and a cup of tea.

Mary
