Friends,
It’s hard to believe how much has happened since last month’s newsletter! Here are some pictures and stories of ministry on campus this September.
The day before school began, we had a training with 17 of our student leaders (who are currently leading 11 small groups on campus). We decided to do a “Bless the Campus” week, in which each day would focus on a specific way to be tangible good news to Texas State University. The week began with free coffee in the middle of campus, which turned into opportunities to share the gospel, walk lost freshmen to class, and pray with students who were stressed and homesick. The week ended with Faculty Friday, where we glued Snickers and Twix bars to Every Nation flyers and invited over 200 professors to church.

During the Free Coffee day, a student approached our booth, got coffee, and then went on his way. Two days later, Dan saw him on campus and shouted out his name, inviting him to lunch to talk about Jesus. The student expressed visible shock- he later shared with Dan that the very night before, he had wept to God in his dorm room, saying that he needed to change but didn’t know how. He pleaded with God to intervene and move in his life. Then, the next day, Dan called out his name.

Dan and the student talked for over three hours about the various areas of his life that were literally destroying him. The student gave his life to Christ, and Dan has since baptized him in the river. Please pray for continued growth in this student’s life as he attends Dan's Bible studies and spends time at our house, learning what it means to make Jesus Lord and King.

Ministering to Estobraq

A few weeks into the semester, I (Kristin) set up a table at the International Student Fair to meet the foreign exchange students who have come to study in San Marcos. A young Muslim couple approached the table, and I noticed that the wife was very pregnant. I asked her (Estrobraq), how long she had been in the United States, and in broken English, she replied three weeks! We made plans to go to dinner together, and Estobraq got teary eyed, saying that she was grateful to find a friend before her baby is born.

Since then, Estobraq and her husband Ali have been to church three times and to dinner with us once. I hope to throw Estobraq a baby shower in the next month before her daughter is born! Please pray for open hearts, open doors, and continued friendship with this precious little family.
First campus service of the semester!
After our "Bless the Campus" week, we had our first Tuesday college service. There were a record number of new students, and Dan preached a powerful message on redemption. Afterwards, he approached a young man named Joey, who came to the service last-minute because one of our students handed him a flyer that said “free pizza.” Joey began to share his story with Dan, saying that two weeks before, he realized he wasn’t just a recreational drug user- he was addicted. Joey knew he needed God in his life to overcome his problem. He began to attend Dan’s Bible study, and was blown away when Dan offered to pay his way for the student retreat (which was covered by one of our partners- thank you!!). Please pray that Joey continues to encounter God and is transformed from the inside out.
Praise God for the fruit we're seeing at Texas State University! You are a part of every single story, because you are the ones sending us out as laborers in the harvest. Thank you for your continued investment of finances and faith- we are so grateful for our team.

From our hearts,
Dan and Kristin
