Student communications survey
OCAD U is trying to improve student communications. We want to understand what’s working well, what isn’t, and how we can make your communications experience better. The survey takes about 15 minutes to complete.
We’re drawing for some cool prizes too, including some art supply gift cards and an Anker SoundCore Bluetooth Portable Wireless Speaker!

24/7 access at OCAD U
Student access to OCAD University, 24/7, started Tuesday, September 27 for
100 McCaul Street (including Sharp Centre for Design) and 115 McCaul Street.
Access is for current OCAD U students only. Remember to carry your OCAD U student ID card to gain entry via main door (accessibility door only). Complete details are in your student email!
Locker rental
Still need a locker? Now that the fall semester is underway, lockers are available for rent from Facilities Planning & Management, Room 910, Level 9, 230 Richmond St. West (RHB). The locker fee is $15.00.  Pay for your locker at the Cashier (Level 7, 230 Richmond St. West) and then present your receipt and valid OCAD U student ID in RHB 910.

Hours of operation are Monday to Friday (8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.).
If you need a second locker, you can inquire the first week of October.

China exchange program
Ontario-Jiangsu Student Exchange Program information session

Join us to find out about exciting study abroad opportunities in Jiangsu, China! The Ontario-Jiangsu Student Exchange Program offers undergraduate students in Ontario the opportunity to take part in exchanges at Chinese universities. A summer research program and short-term language and culture programs are also offered for undergraduate and graduate students.  Scholarships are available for eligible participants!

Congratulations to our O-DAYS! face2face: postcard project 2016 winners!

Fiona Barnes-Brisley (left) is the winner of this year's early bird prize—a $100 gift card for Above Ground Art Supplies—having submitted her self-portrait postcard by the July 15 deadline. Christopher Panneflek (right) is the winner of a 3M Gift Basket (valued at $300), drawn randomly from all postcards submitted by the August 27 deadline.

CAMPUS LIFE
Campus Life at OCAD U is what YOU, the student, makes it. So, look into our programming. Find out what's happening on campus, and learn how to can meet other students and get involved. Activities help support community building, enhance student life experience and the overall quality of campus life!

GRANGE FITNESS
As part of University Settlement & Recreation Centre (USRC), Grange Fitness is located directly adjacent to OCAD U at 23 Grange Road. After extensive renovations, their new fitness centre is THE place to work out. Inquire about special pricing for OCAD U students, staff and faculty!

OPENSPORTS
OpenSports and Grange Fitness share the vision of filling recreational spaces with community members looking to be active through an intuitive, fun platform. OpenSports will promote existing free programs offered by Grange Fitness through an online App, and bring new sports, such as soccer and pickleball. Students can connect with others and join their sport of choice!

TORONTO PUBLIC LIBRARY
Students, faculty and staff can get a free Toronto Public Library (TPL)
card. Access TPL’s extensive collection of electronic resources including databases and journals.


ZIPCAR
Zipcar car sharing service offers a reduced membership for OCAD U students, staff and faculty. Stop by their table for details!


HALLOWEEN
Wednesday/Thursday, October 26/27: Watch for details on social media! Plans are being finalized, creating festive and fun pumpkin carving and costume making opportunities, student group tables and University service fair! 
Reading Week professional development!
During fall Reading Week (October 11 to 14), OCAD U Faculties and Continuing Studies have teamed up to offer undergraduate and graduate students a great deal on Introductory Software Courses, as well as an Academic English for Art and Design Intensive. AND Career Development at OCAD U is offering students the opportunity to RSVP for a FREE workshop series, Your Creative Career.

INTRODUCTORY SOFTWARE COURSES
The Introductory Software Courses, offered at $150 each, include a total of 12 hours of instruction, and are organized so that you can take multiple courses over the period.

ACADEMIC ENGLISH FOR ART AND DESIGN INTENSIVE
Are you an English Language Learner? Would you like to learn some tools and strategies to improve your reading, writing, and speaking skills?
Facilitated by Writing & Learning Centre staff Emilie Brancato (English Language Learning Specialist) and Myra Bloom (ELL Writing & Learning Consultant), the Academic English for Art and Design Intensive is four full days (October 11 to 14) of instruction for $295. You’ll be introduced to a range of tools that empower you to approach challenging material, build your academic and disciplinary vocabulary, and self-edit your own writing. Enrollment is limited to 25 students. Register today!  Fees are subject to HST.

This is the first of our monthly “outings.” An outing offers an opportunity for you to attend important events around the city with a friendly group, rather than alone. Meet at 6:15 p.m. at the northwest corner of Allan Gardens (south-east corner of Carlton and Jarvis Street intersection).

ONGOING SERVICES
Student Union Advocate and Lawyer

The Advocate (Robin Fraser) provides FREE advice, advocacy and support services to all OCAD U students, while the Lawyer (Mbuso Nkosi) provides FREE legal advice to students on a variety of matters including, but not limited to, tenancy issues, small claims, contract disputes, immigration, criminal charges, employment issues, and family law. Learn more about these services and how you can make an appointment to get the help you need.

The Student Pantry
Operating since 2005, and located in the OCADSU offices, the Student Pantry exists to support students in need of assistance by offering supplemental food to minimize grocery budgets. Learn more about this service, including hours of operation and location.
Health & wellness support
Health & Wellness Centre (HWC), Level 6, 230 Richmond St. West (RHB), is an on-campus clinic providing medical and counselling services to OCAD U students. Services are accessible and responsive to issues relating to gender, race, age, culture, ability, sexual orientation, income and faith. Our team of health-care professionals are here to make your time at OCAD U a positive and fulfilling experience and help you maintain optimal physical and mental health.
