PUBLIC CONSULTATIONS: Capacity & Reconfiguration Review

In addressing the needs of our students, the Chilliwack School District is inviting staff, students, parents, community and partners to provide feedback for a possible school reconfiguration.
Our interest in examining school configuration is first and foremost driven by a desire to create the best learning environment for our students. A secondary consideration is the growth in our student population and our need to make a determination of our future new school.
External consultants will facilitate conversations and provide a report back to the Board of Education in early 2017, for the Board’s consideration in its decision making.
The District hopes you will join in this important conversation so that together we can provide the best learning experiences for our children and youth. Parents, Staff & Community are invited to attend the follwoing consultation meetings:
October 24 6:30-8:00 p.m. Alumni Hall (CSS)
October 25 6:30-8:00 p.m. Sardis Senior – Pitt

This week our girls field hockey team was in the Fraser Valley East semi-final round-robin playoffs.  In our first game against Rosedale our girls were evenly matched.  At the half we were down 0-2.  In the second half our girls battle back and Kate Klassen scored to tie the game and send it to shoot-outs.  Kate Klassen, Cassidy Hugland and Erin Field sored for us in the shoot-out.  After 5 shots, the shoot-out went to sudden death.  Cecilia Forstbauer, our rookie goalie, came up big and made a brilliant save giving CMS the win.  In our second game, although our girls dominated play over Agassiz, we weren't able to get the ball past their experienced goalie.

Both our grade 8 and grade 9 girls volleyball teams suffered defeats this week against Slesse and GWG.  Although, they did not come out with a win, our girls are improving their fundamentals and knowledge of the game.  We have added a grade 9 girls practice Tuesday morning and both teams practice Wednesday morning in preparation for next Thursdays games.
