Last Ride Like a Girl Workshop of 2016: November 13 - Bridge To Treasure Island
We saved the most interesting for last - A Winery tour edition (Bay Bridge and Treasure Island - with an alternate route in case the opening of the bridge path is delayed)
10am to 1pm
As with all of our workshops, we'll dedicate the first part of the workshop for a basic safety check of your bike and dive a bit deeper, learning techniques for riding comfortably and confidently. At this workshop, we'll be focusing on some basics of bike touring, that is getting rolling on self-supported longer distance rides. League certified instructor, Rose Johnson, will give helpful pointers on how to ride happy in the long haul.
We meet at Bikes4Life Cafe in West Oakland (1600 7th St. Oakland CA. 94607, near West Oakland BART)
Then we practice rolling on one of our most iconic bike paths on the Bay Bridge to Treasure Island and take our first break at Purity Winery. We'll hop back on the bike to roll past at least 4 other wineries and stop for a brief picnic. The ride home is quick and slightly downhill all the way for a total of ~20 miles roundtrip.
Bring water and something to snack on.
The workshop fee is $15 (sliding scale, WOBO and Bike East Bay members ride free). You cover your own purchases of wine or tastings.
Register here. WOBO and Bike East Bay members, sign up by emailing your name and phone number to info@wobo.org.
