The 2016 Cut Paper Art Calendar - (detail):  To Strut Under the Golden Moon

The 2017 Cut Paper Art Calendar • A celebration of the imagination, transformed into strangely wondrous beings and worlds, all in intricately cut paper.

The 2017 Cut Paper Art Calendar is a year-long expedition to chart the uncommon pulse of the connections between us, transformed into strangely wondrous sentient beings and worlds through the intricate carving of paper.

Putting together this little calendar project of ours has become an annual ritual - so much so that it prompts me to run through an early year-in-review in my head.  It's been a crazy year:  the hottest summer I can ever remember, a bit of unwelcome rumblings in the earth, and a new addition to our tiny family.  I'm thrilled to have been able to share a bit of my life, inspiration, and imagination with you these past 12 months, and I'm looking forward to share news, adventure, and lots of paper art in the year to come.

To Strut Under the Golden Moon - you're the first to see the full, hi-res art!

We're nearly there!

Even though the campaign only launched a couple days ago, we're on the cusp of success!

We only need a couple more backers to put us over the top and ensure that the calendar is printed again this year.  Our ultimate goal is to continue printing each year until I've finished the entire Eto/干支/Chinese•Japanese Horoscope.  It's going to be a heck of a journey.

Of course, we also have a cornucopia of other rewards including prints, postcards, and laser cuts, all at a modest discount from usual shop prices.

Plus, if we can make the $5000 stretch goal, we'll zap the Year of the Rooster LaserCut print into existence.  I'm sketching it now, and I promise it'll be cool.

At the least, I hope you'll hop on over to my recently renamed blog A Pulse Uncommon or the Kickstarter page, and take a gander at the video.  I'm kinda proud of it - it's a narrative story of adventure and discovery.

ps: you're the first, not counting my family, to see the full, detailed Rooster art!  I hope you like it!  I'll be writing more about it, and other recent artwork, soon!

Kickstarter is a crowd-funding website whose purpose is to allow creative people (like myself) the opportunity to attract an audience for our projects without the risk of having to eat cat food for a few months.  If a visitor finds a project campaign that they want to support (for example, this one), they pledge a certain monetary amount and become backers. If the campaign succeeds, the funds are charged to the backer's credit card.  If the campaign fails to reach its goal, no money changes hands.
If you're anywhere near Jaffa, the Paper Creatures exhibition will continue until October 29, 2016.  My art hangs alongside that of 31 other paper artists in a dazzling display of creativity and skill!
