The Club Special

Hurricane Matthew put us all into a preparation frenzy this past week, right in the middle of Club member sign ups. For those of you who were accepted into the lottery but couldn't make it out to the brewery before the deadline, we're extending your ability to sign up through Sunday, October 16 at 8 p.m.

We're also going to add 20 more spots for people to sign up, just come in to the brewery, pay the $75 (+tax) annual membership fee, and you're in!

Club benefits are numerous, so check out our blog posting about what Club members can expect this year.

Thank You For A Wonderful Oktoberfest

It was quite the weekend at Due South Brewing Company. From September 29 to October 1, we put on our fifth annual Oktoberfest celebration in our taproom, full of German-styled beers, food trucks, polka music, and a Saturday night teeming with lederhosen and dirndls.

A giant thank you goes out to our bar staff, who worked tirelessly throughout the weekend, and our brewing staff, who consistently up the ante when it comes to quality beer. Finally, a thank you to our customers, who came thirsty!

Did you attend? See if you’re spotted in this Facebook photo album of the event.

We look forward to seeing you all next year.

Due South at the Great American Beer Festival

It’s the 35th anniversary of the Great American Beer Festival, and Due South Brewing was proud to be representing Boynton Beach and Florida. GABF is considered one of the most premiere beer festivals in the country, and quite possibly the world, and ran from October 6 to 8 in Denver, Colorado. It's a combination judged beer competition and public tasting event, complete with almost 1,000 breweries pouring beer over four session within three days.

We received a lot of love from the crowd for each of the four beers we poured, with many coming back again and again.

Follow some of our adventures in Denver through our Facebook photo album.

Rob

This month we're featuring our daytime taproom manager, Rob. A recent transplant from Maine, he's become an invaluable member of the team in short order.

Why did you move to South Florida?
I was seeking new experiences. I found myself doing the same things back in New England and I figured to only way to make a change was to move somewhere very different... I was right. So I loaded my dog, guitars and clothes into a tiny Subaru and moved; I turned my life into a country song for a short period of time.

What is the most interesting job you've ever had?
I was a statistician for a baseball statistics company. I got to travel around New England and watch minor league baseball while compiling stats.

Besides the brewery taproom, where is your favorite place to enjoy a Due South beer? Any special reason?
I live near Downtown Lake Worth so I like to hangout at Dave's Last Resort, Rhum Shak and Brougues Downunder mostly. They always have Due South on tap and the staff at each of these establishments are knowledgeable and friendly.

What's your favorite "customer feedback" comment/story?
There was a customer that came in recently who "wasn't really into the whole craft beer thing" but she knew we had lighter beers and thought she'd give it a try. I was able to use our great selection of beers to get her to try more and more complex beers. She ended up happily leaving with a 4 pack of Category 5 IPA, having come in not a fan of hoppy beers. It was fun helping her expand her beer pallet.

What do you like to do when you have time off?
I love the water so I snorkel when it's not too hot. Whenever possible I like to try out the other local breweries, South Florida has so much to offer. And frankly if I have time off I like to spend it with my friends at Due South, I'm just drawn to the best beers in South Florida.

November Beers Are Coming

Maple Orange Imperial Caramel Cream Ale, originally part of our Curiosity Series, has made its way to become our latest November release. We take our Imperial Caramel Cream ale and add oranges and maple syrup to create a unique flavor profile that perfectly blends the north and the south. Set to land in our tap room and in stores on November 1.

But what about those of you who want a little kick in your beers? Well, get excited, because it's back: Mexican Standoff is set to be released in November, as a limited taproom engagement. We're brewing up a small batch of this porter brewed with cocoa, vanilla, cinnamon, and chili pepper. This beer will take hold of your taste buds with its heat. Crowlers will be available to-go.

Recent Beer Releases

Here are some new beers now available in the taproom and in the market
  • Cafe Ole Espresso Porter - Roasted barley and flaked oats combine to form a rich, robust flavor, complimented by the addition of locally roasted espresso (from Argyle Coffee Roasters) and a touch of vanilla.
  • Honey Vanilla Wheat - Smooth and silky are the best ways to describe this seasonal beer. A special mash process is used to create a fuller body with a smooth mouthfeel. Real vanilla beans are added at the end of fermentation to balance out the sweetness of the honey. We only use the freshest Florida honey in this beer brewed to enjoy in the Florida sunshine.
  • What the Hef? - This is a German style wheat beer called a Hefeweizen that is completely unfiltered leaving a hazy straw color. Flavor and aroma notes of banana, bubble gum and clove round out this Bavarian favorite.

Our Isle of MaGourdo pumpkin ale recently made the top 20 pumpkin beers in the United States in a blind-tasting by Paste Magazine. Have you gotten your fix yet? See what else is on tap in the taproom.
