Help Us Honor Sr. Grace
What's better than Doughnut Sunday? Doughnut Sunday with Sr. Grace! Join us as we celebrate Sr. Grace and her 70th jubilee at the 11am mass this Sunday (10/16), followed by a reception in her honor in the cafeteria. Sr. Grace has touched the lives of many generations at Nativity, and she'd love to see you!

St. Teresa of Avila
Tomorrow is the feast of St. Teresa of Avila (pictured above left), a Spanish nun and one of two women to be named Doctor of the Church. Teresa's writings on mental prayer continue to be greatly influential, and her efforts to reform her religious community live on today with the Discalced (barefoot) Carmelite order.
Pray for us, St. Teresa, that we may never grow slack in our pursuit of union with our Lord.

Sunday's Readings
In the First Reading, Israel wins a military battle by the power of the sword and with an assist from Moses and his brother Aaron. In the Second Reading, St. Paul explains how the Sacred Scriptures can be an even more powerful weapon. In the St. Luke's Gospel, Jesus offers a colorful analogy to encourage perseverance in prayer.
