RGHS Weekly Bulletin 14 October 2016

Just as we finished Term 3, in a flurry of activities, so we have started the last academic term of the year.  We have had numerous special award ceremonies over this time (Music, Societies and Services and Sport), as well as the induction of our new prefects.

These occasions have really highlighted the large number of girls that are involved in activities outside of the classroom.  It is quite exceptional to see just how many of our girls participate in extramurals, making use of the opportunities that are available to them to learn, grow and develop both skills and character, learning valuable life lessons along the way.

This week we celebrated the achievements of our Matrics at the Grade 12 Awards Ceremony, before they leave us to focus on studying for the National Senior Certificate examinations.  We wish them well with their preparations and hope that their examinations go well.  We know that they will aim high and have every reason to be proud when their results are released in January 2017.

It is always an emotional time when we have to say goodbye to all that is comfortable and familiar, but our girls have such an advantage, having attended a school such a Rustenburg, that they can certainly look forward to the future with confidence.  There are many exciting adventures that lie ahead for each of them.  We will miss the Matric group and the special part that they played in so many aspects of school life.

Warm regards

Susan Schnetler
Acting Principal

WCED Systemic tests

The WCED Systemic tests for Grade 9 will be held on 21 October 2016. All the Grade 9s will write an English test and a Mathematics test with a break in between. The tests are administered and marked by an outside body. The school is given a report showing areas of instruction that need strengthening and support. This is very informative for the staff concerned. These tests are compulsory and all Grade 9 girls are expected to be present on 21 October to write them.
