A study by Drs. Ellen Goddard and James Rude was featured in Alberta Farm Express. The study found that Canadian cattle producers receive a $14 benefit for every $1 in national checkoff fees invested in research and marketing activities.

REES Academics

Dr. Maik Kecinski joined the Department in early October as an Assistant Professor in Economic Development in Northern and Aboriginal Communities. He joins us from the University of Delaware, where he was a post-doctoral fellow.

Dr. Feng Qiu and her partner Larry welcomed their first child, Alex Qiu Laliberte on August 13th at 11:35am (7lbs 5oz)

Dr. Henry An was awarded the North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture (NACTA) Certificate of Merit for teaching.
Dr. Violet Muringai was awarded the 2016 Richardson-Applebaum award for best PhD thesis, which is given every year by the Food Distribution Research Society (FDRS) in the United States.

Her thesis is titled: "Trust, Perceptions, Intentions and Behaviour in Meat Consumption."
On Sept. 7th, 15 of our 2nd year MSc students participated in the

3rd Annual 3 Minute Thesis Competition 

There was a three way tie for first prize between Claire Doll (front row, far left), Arenna (front row, centre) and Yanan Zheng (middle row, fourth from right)
