Team Vital Register Now for Spring 2017!

A Future With Hope is the mission arm of the United Methodist Church of Greater NJ dedicated to helping families with Sandy recovery and developing Communities of Hope resourcing for our congregations.

 

Results through September 2016

  • 247 rebuilt homes
  • 11,590 volunteers from 44 states, DC and Canada
  • 450 families have been assisted 
  • Work projects continue in Atlantic City, Brigantine, Highlands, Keansburg, Little Egg Harbor, Long Branch, Ocean City, Toms River, Tuckerton, and Union Beach. 

4 Years Since the Storm 

On Saturday, Oct. 29, A Future With Hope will mark the 4th anniversary of the storm with volunteers working on a home in Union Beach. So much time has passed and yet more than 4,000 people have not been able to recover. What will you be doing to mark the anniversary of Superstorm Sandy? Go to A Future With Hope and make a donation or sign up to volunteer. 

United Methodists throughout the conference are working toward the goal of $12 million to help rebuild homes, save lives and inspire local church mission. Learn how you and your congregation can join the campaign.

 

Imagine No Malaria Provides Advent Resources 

This Advent season, let Imagine No Malaria help you and your congregation imagine a world filled with hope, joy and love through a collection of downloadable materials that includes sermon starters, hymn suggestions and children's messages. Additional materials include litanies, prayers, and a short video that can be shared in small groups or the congregation.

A Message from Bishop Schol on Hurricane Matthew 

When people hurt, United Methodists help. Haiti has experienced mass devastation following Hurricane Matthew. Bishop Schol has asked GNJ United Methodists to step up and put faith into action. GNJ Leadership Evaluation Update 

Thank you to everyone who completed the GNJ Leadership Evaluation. The results are posted on the website here. We are creating staff teams to review the results and set goals for improving our service. We will keep you posted on our action steps.

Calling All Worship Leaders in GNJ - Nov. 12

Doxology: A Worship Conference sponsored by the Central Region and hosted by renown worship leader Kurtis Parks will bring together leaders from around GNJ for a day of learning new ways to embrace the worship experience. Find out more and register here and watch the video above.
 

Explore New Approaches at GNJ Small Group Symposium 

Clergy and local seminary students are invited to explore a variety of small group approaches, emerging trends, challenges and theological perspectives at a symposium sponsored by the Northern Region Resource Team. On Oct. 20 from 9:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. at Drew Theological School, experts from Greater New Jersey and beyond will lead panels followed by discussions and workshops. Global Mission Fellows Application Opens 

The application period for the 2016-2017 class of Global Mission Fellows began on Sept. 30. Online informational sessions for those interested in learning more about the program will be held on Nov. 16, and Dec. 14. To register for an information session, click here. New Overtime Rule Means Church Changes

The United Methodist Board of Church and Society will hold the Faith and Guns Forum on Nov. 16 where attendees will learn about gun violence, gun control legislation and strategies for coalition building and mobilizing congregations to be the change God calls Christians to be. Read details.
