TWO Events for October!

There's still time, but act fast on this one, as the event takes place this Friday, October 14th at 10:30PM at the Gas Station Theatre, 445 River at Osborne.

The Winnipeg if... Improv Festival is excited to work with TEDxWinnipeg to bring you a special event. This is fun for us - a TEDxWinnipegAdventure, even! It also takes us back to 2013, when Stephen Sim spoke at our event. GIve that a view to see what you can learn from improv.

There will be two presentations of improvised work by the Local Ensemble and the Festival Ensemble of improvisers. These performances will be hosted and guided by Randy Dixon, which is kind of a big deal.

Randy Dixon is regarded as one of the most experienced improvisational artists in the field. He is a founding member of Unexpected Productions, Seattle’s longest running improvisational theater company and has served as the company’s Artistic Director since 1988. During his tenure Unexpected Productions has established a reputation of presenting high quality shows, classes and workshops.

Give us an RSVP on the Meetup.com Event Page to help us estimate how many are coming, and then click through to purchase tickets.

Tickets are $15 and support the Winnipeg if... Improv Festival and pay for the venue. Ticketing is being looked after by the festival, so all ticket-related questions can be directed their way.
TEDxWomen2016
Our second event for October takes place on Thursday October 27th. We'll be screening a talk live from TEDWomen2016, which will be taking place at that time in San Francisco CA, and exploring the topic through a moderated discussion.

To get started thinking on these topics, you might want to revisit talks by a couple of our past TEDxWinnipeg speakers, Cornelius Buller, (Marginalized Women and the Attitudes of Men who Propel it) and former RCMP officer Sherry Lee Benson-Podolchuk (Workplace Bullying and the Strategies I Used to Survive).

With recent discussion about men's attitudes toward women arising out of the US election and the announcement of the RCMP apology and $100 Million compensation fund in the wake of harassment lawsuits, these talks could not be more on-point, and the discussion hosted around TEDWomen2016 couldn't be more timely.

Again, you can RSVP through the Meetup.com page to help us out with an advance head count. We will confirm the venue and start time shortly. In the meantime, save the date!
