Empowering YOUth Initiatives grants

Carers as contractors or employees?

The Australian Government has provided $55 million over four years to establish the Empowering YOUth Initiatives grant program. Organisations can apply for up to $5 million over two years to provide assistance to vulnerable young people aged 15 to 24 who are long-term unemployed or at risk of becoming long-term unemployed.

Certificate III in Individual Support subsidies

Subsidy: Certificate III in Individual Support for carers

Are you an unpaid family carer or former carer seeking a job but can’t afford training? Carers Queensland will offer a CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support in the Logan, Beaudesert, Caboolture, Deception Bay, Roma and Miles areas. The course is designed with carers’ needs in mind and flexible learning options, and the full cost of this course is funded by the Skilling Queenslanders for Work program.

Free to download, the Document Accessibility Toolbar (DAT) is a dedicated accessibility ribbon menu for Microsoft Word that makes it quicker and easier to create accessible documents. Created by Vision Australia’s Digital Access consultancy, it features a range of hand-picked and custom-built functions to optimise and validate a document for accessibility.

Survey: Domestic violence in LGBTIQ communities

2Spirits (QuAC) and Queensland Council of Social Service (QCOSS) have partnered up to inquire into the challenges faced by people who identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Sistergirl, Brotherboy, Transgender, Queer and Intersex who experience domestic and family violence, as well as service providers who may provide support services to people in response to domestic and family violence.

Event: Queensland Mental Health Week

This week (9-15 October) is Queensland Mental Health Week, and there are still plenty of events for you to join, from morning teas to lectures, music jams to meditation sessions. Queensland Mental Health Week is an opportunity to value mental health: our own mental health and wellbeing, that of our loved ones, friends and colleagues, at home, at work and at play.
