South Africa’s bill of rights and the constitution were the main themes highlighted at the public lecture delivered by retired Constitutional Court judge, Zak Yacoob, at the Durban University of Technology (DUT), yesterday (12 October 2016).
Judge Yacoob is well-known in the national and international arena for his contribution to the socio-economic rights and jurisprudence of South Africa.
Film producer, journalist and author, Julie Frederikse, will present her talk on Non-racialism in South African history: in words and pictures, at the Steve Biko Campus, Urban Futures Centre Common Room, on Wednesday (19 October 2016).
Hosted by the Urban Futures Centre (UFC) at DUT, Frederikse will discuss the approach that gave rise to her book on non-racialism and her previous works, which emerged from her work as a journalist.
SKILLS DEVELOPMENT IS ESSENTIAL IN MARITIME INDUSTRY
The Durban University of Technology’s (DUT’s) Faculty of Applied Sciences together with the DUT Maritime Studies Department hosted its Dean Lecture Series at Steve Biko Campus recently.
Professor Ruan Wei, Dean of the International Education College and Director of the International Student Office of Shanghai Maritime University, was the keynote speaker at the event.
The opening of Durban University of Technology’s first inter-disciplinary Research and Postgraduate Conference 2016 was well received, as it brought together researchers, postgraduate students and academics from across Africa to exchange ideas and strategies.
This focused on science, technology and research, and was viewed as important for building human capacity in terms of post-graduate research.
ARTICULATION ISSUES ADDRESSED AT 2ND STAKEHOLDERS WORKSHOP
The Durban University of Technology (DUT) together with the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA), Pax College, University of the Witwatersrand (WITS), Central University of Technology (CUT), and other stakeholders, held the second Stakeholders Articulation Workshop, last Tuesday, (4 October 2016) at Durban’s Pax College Campus.
The workshop was aimed at working out ways to address articulation policies.
