Dear P.S. 124 Families,
We’ve gotten off to a great start and our Fall Festival is almost here! But First, Let’s get down to serious business!
Our next PTA Meeting is on Wednesday, October 19th from 6:30pm to 8:00pm. Our first order of business will be to elect one parent for our open SLT Chair and hopefully another parent for VP of Internal Engagement on the Executive Board.
Just a bit of info:
SLT, School Leadership Teams are teams of parents, teachers and administrators who are responsible for setting the educational direction of a school. All NYC public schools are required to have an equal number of parents and school staff. If you would like to run for the SLT Chair please submit your nomination SLT form in your child’s yellow folder.
VP of Internal Engagement – You’ll be part of the Executive Board decision making. Get the word out. Help us get fellow parents involved. If you would like to run for VP of Internal Engagement, please email your nomination to ps124pta@gmail.com
Please nominate yourself by Monday, October 17th
Following the election, Mrs. Burrell will have an information session with us to discuss our status as a Title I school. Title I is the largest Federal Aid Program for improving the academic achievement of disadvantaged students. Don’t miss it!
OK, now for some fun! Pumpkins, Character Parade and Ponies! Oh my! Our Fall Festival on Saturday, October 29th is full of fun surprises for our children! Be there from 1 to 4 for Games and Raffles of course! I can’t wait to see everyone there having fun and maybe dancing a little? Huh? Don’t be shy! Costumes encouraged! Get creative and then take a walk down our red carpet during our “Character Parade”. Enough of me spilling the beans. We’ll see you there!
We need Volunteers!
Do you like to bake? A great opportunity to volunteer is by donating baked goods for our Fall Fest! A Volunteer Request form will be sent home in your child’s folder.
Do you have a green thumb? On Friday, October 14th at 8:30am, We need a few volunteers to help us plant 200 bulbs at our school. A BIG THANK YOU! Is in order for:
The September 11 Daffodil Project for donating 200 bulbs to plant around our tress. We need to get them in the ground before the first frost. Interested? Meet us in front of the school after drop-off. Just bring some old gloves.
We love our volunteers! Every single minute of assistance helps and every single minute of assistance is greatly appreciated.
Do you know of a family interested in enrolling their child in our school?
School Tours are going on now! The next tour will be on Wednesday, October 19th at 8:45am.
