Growth Boundary Update
Hi all,
On Monday, September 26th, 100 parents came to Olympic View Elementary to hear about growth boundaries and the important details about grandfathering students and changes in bussing.
Since then, a small group of us have attended the district meetings, a Saturday open meeting with Rick Burke our local School Board Director, and have met personally with parents from the nearby schools of Olympic Hills, Sacajawea, John Rogers and Viewlands. We are a powerful coalition of parents who are asking for the same thing: a better plan, more grandfathering and smart boundaries based on up to date data. We can get a better plan for Olympic View and our region. Over 900 students are impacted by the proposed changes.
The district is considering delaying the vote and having a work session to review the plan. A work session is great in that the major decision makers are in a room together working on a regional plan versus a cluttered mess of amendments. But the district is just considering it. We need to push the district to make this extra effort.
A HUGE opportunity is this Wednesday, October 12th, at the school board meeting.
