Women Lawyers Association of NSW and Ashurst are delighted to invite you to join us as we hear from a range of experts on the progression of women in the legal profession in NSW. The panel will discuss the available data and compare it to the position of women in other professions and from an international perspective.
GUEST SPEAKERS
 Professor Nan Seuffert is the Director of the Legal Intersections Research Centre at the School of Law at the University of Wollongong. Prior to academia, Nan practiced law in Boston at Foley, Hoag and Eliot. Her book, titled Jurisprudence of National Identity, provided the theme for the US Association for the Study of Law, Culture and the Humanities Conference in 2011. In 2016 she will be visiting at the Centre for the Study of Law and Society at Boalt Hall Law School, University of California at Berkeley. She teaches and researches in the areas of critical legal theory, securities regulation and contracts. Much of Nan's research focuses on women and the law.
 Andrew McMahon from Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) is a Research and Analyst Manager.He leads the team that is responsible for the data management, analysis, benchmarking and research functions of the Agency. A key aspect of Andrew’s role is unlocking the potential of the Agency’s world leading dataset through internal insights and external collaboration. He firmly believes in the importance of using high quality data combined with innovative statistical methods to create insights and drive change
 Louise Mallon has been a member of Ashurst's Sydney Disputes Team for 10 years and is involved in numerous diversity initiatives within Ashurst. Louise is a member of the WLANSW's Workplace Relations sub-committee and has contributed to the Law Firm Comparison Data project for the last 2 years.
Note: Larissa Andelman, Barrister at Wardell Chambers and Chair of the Workplace Practices Sub-Committee of the Women Lawyers Association of NSW, will moderate the panel discussion.
