We are recruiting for a Communications and Projects Coordinator and an Administration and Communications Assistant to join the team at this busy development organisation for Scotland's playwrights.

The deadline for applications is 5pm, Friday 28th October. Application details can be found on our recruitment page.

> Writers Projects
Experienced mid-career or established playwrights can apply for up to £3,250 to experiment with their writing. Playwrights' Studio will manage the project on the playwright's behalf, providing administrative support and handling all the financial management. We will work closely with you to ensure that the project successfully meets your needs.

Ever been told you are a born storyteller?
Always wanted to write but don't know where to start?


Playwrights' Studio, Scotland are offering free workshops to give you a taste of playwriting in a safe, supportive and fun environment.

These workshops are a unique opportunity for people who have never considered playwriting, or theatre, to immerse themselves in the joys and challenges of writing a play for the very first time.

The next workshop, 'Playwriting for Beginners with Nicola McCartney,' is at Govanhill Baths on Monday 21 November from 11am to 1pm.

Traverse Masterclasses
This Autumn season The Traverse Theatre are delighted to bring a series of workshops, masterclasses and post-show discussions, which enable artists to get closer to the work of Traverse artists and productions. Playwriting workshops will be delivered by Rosie Kellagher, Zinnie Harris and Rob Drummond.

Scottish Book Trust Mentoring 2017
In 2017 Scottish Book Trust will provide four published writers the unique opportunity to be mentored by an experienced writer or industry professional. The mentoring programme provides writers with a sustained period of support devoted to developing a particular writing project.

Talawa Script Reading Service
Talawa are accepting script submissions from 1 October to 31 October. Talawa has a history of nurturing outstanding writers - most recently Theresa Ikoko (whose production of 'Girls' is currently on at Soho Theatre), Somalia Seaton, Inua Ellams, Charlene James, David Judge, Chino Odimba and Firdos Ali.
Deadline: Monday 31 October

Tron 100 Applications 2017
Tron 100 is an artistic membership dedicated to developing and supporting artists in the areas of theatre, television and radio. Tron 100 Club offers industry workshops, networking events, panel discussions, dedicated artist led devising, writing and performance opportunities as well as access to discounted rehearsal space.
Deadline: Monday 7 November

Top Five Festival - Submissions Now Open
Every year the Octagon Theatre is so inundated with offerings from hopeful would-be writers that they simply cannot accept any unsolicited scripts.  But so as not to miss out on any gems, for two months of the year, they have an Open Window in which they guarantee to read every script that is sent in - whether it comes from an established writer, or a novice submitting a brand new first-time script.

What Shadows by Chris Hannan

Birmingham Repertory Theatre

Enoch Powell's 'Rivers of Blood' speech, famously delivered in Birmingham, is the post-war's most polarising political speech. Chris Hannan's powerful new play is a searing look at how a politically divided country moves forward in the wake of a crisis.

The Gorbals Vampire by Johnny McKnight
Friday 28 - Satruday 29 October
Citizens Theatre

A new play by Johnny McKnight performed by amateur actors and inspired by real-life events which took place in the Southern Necropolis. In 1954, playgrounds across the Gorbals were abuzz with rumours of a man with iron teeth who had abducted and eaten two local young boys. One night in late September, hundreds of children aged 4 - 14 gathered at the Southern Necropolis. Armed with whatever they could find, they mounted a courageous campaign to track down and kill the Gorbals Vampire.

Govanhill Baths

The Govanhill Baths Community Trust is a grassroots organisation supported and developed through active involvement by members of the local community. They were established in December 2004 from the Save Our Pool campaign and many of their active members have been involved since the Trust began having first joined the occupation of the pool in 2001.

The Govanhill Baths is a community hub based in the heart of Govanhill providing free Health and Wellbeing educational workshops and classes for the local community free of charge. Their aim is to reopen the Baths as a Wellbeing Centre incorporating three pools, a health suite and other sports and health initiatives.

On Monday 21 November, Playwrights' Studio's second Born to Write workshop, Playwriting for Beginners with Nicola McCartney, will be at Govanhill Baths.
