U-M Battery Startup Enters $1.5M Joint Venture

In an effort to make safer, longer-lasting Lithium-ion batteries for technologies like electric vehicles, smartphones and laptops, a University of Michigan startup has formed a $1.5 million joint venture with two major players in the industry. Read more here.

ELP Application for 2016-17 Cohort

Oct. 13: #EHour 407 with Speaker Paul Teutel Jr. of Paul Jr. Designs

Motorcycle master Paul Teutul Jr. has been molding metal into shape since the age of 12, when he began his apprenticeship at his father’s steel business. He’s widely recognized as the chief designer and fabricator of some of the world’s most famous motorcycles, as featured in the hit television series American Chopper on the Discovery Channel.

NOTE: If you are NOT enrolled in Entrepreneurship Hour (ENTR 407) and are attending as a guest, please use the black stairs located in the Stamps Auditorium Lobby to enter the auditorium via the second level.


Oct. 14: Student Startup Madness 'Early Admission' Application Deadline

Student Startup Madness is a nationwide tournament-style competition for college student digital media startups, culminating with national finals at South By Southwest (SXSW) Interactive in March. Student Startup Madness (SSM) is open to all college student digital media startups from any college/university in the United States. Additional information and application can be found here.

Oct. 14 & 15: Generation Startup Film Screening

Detroit Institute of Arts, Michigan
Generation Startup takes us to the front lines of entrepreneurship in America, capturing the struggles and triumphs of six recent college graduates who put everything on the line to build startups in Detroit. More info and tickets here.

Oct. 16: Pandora Challenge Submission Deadline

The Pandora Challenge is a week-long design challenge open to all U-M students interested in the intersection of music, business, and technology. The challenge is kicked off at with a 90-minute high-profile event on Oct. 6. At the event, Mike Herring, President and CFO of Pandora, will be on hand to motivate students on the resources backing the challenge. More info here.


Oct. 19-21: Urban Entrepreneurship Symposium

The third annual Urban Entrepreneurship Symposium will convene entrepreneurs and thought leaders in business, academia, community organizations, and government in order to promote and facilitate business innovation that improves the quality of life in urban communities. #UES2016 will focus the best minds in the city, region, and country on applying entrepreneurial innovation to revitalize Flint and similar communities.
