Powerful Praise Update

Our Powerful Praise service is gearing up to start again soon. Prepare to come and connect to God with us in a passionate worship service that is both authentic and relevant. Service times and dates will be announced shortly.

Stewardship Campaign

The stewardship campaign (pledge drive) begins Sunday, October 16, 2016.  There will be four Sundays with special sermons and special visual presentations which will reflect on the 6 Areas of Focus for St. Peters. On November 13th there will be a celebration potluck lunch after church. Please join us to hear the special sermons and see the presentations as we prepare our gifts for 2017.

Church Council

The next Church Council meeting will be Tuesday October 25, 2016 at 7P.  The focus of the meeting will be the Charge Conference.  Please plan to attend or send a representative from your Ministry or Administrative Group.  This is a very important meeting.

St. Peter's Wish List

Have you noticed the new tables and chairs in the Fellowship Hall?  These were placed on the St. Peter's wish list by the UMW. A chance for getting them on sale before we had all the money raised came up so we acted on faith and purchased them.  If you have had occasion to either put them up or take them down you already know how much easier they are to handle than the old ones. We are still short of covering the purchase price. So we are hoping that some people will be able to give a special gift towards this purchase.  If you wish to contribute you can put a check in the offering and designate it for the wish list. Thanks.

Debbie Miller.

The Spoken Word

If you’d like to listen to a favorite sermon, you can access sermon recordings (also known as podcasts) on the St. Peter’s website (www.stpetersumc.net). Go to the “Resources” tab and then “Sermons – Podcasts” to view the list of available sermons. Click on the sermon that you’d like to hear. In addition to Rev. Baber’s sermons, you can also see some of our guest preachers.

UMW Fellowship Circle

Wednesday October 19th from 10 a.m. till noon. We will be cutting fabric and talking about new projects as well as enjoying fellowship and refreshments. All women are invited to join us. Come to help us work on projects or just come to visit with your friends. Questions see Diana Wilson.

Christmas Play

We are fortunate to have the Taproot Theatre Touring Company visiting us again this Advent season. They will be performing a play titled "Hark the Harold". The play is about an angel named Harold who is paired with Gabriel to make the announcement about the birth of Christ. The last play Taproot did at our church,  "The Inkeeper's Christmas" was very well received with the Christmas message presented in a humorous way. Tickets will be on sale starting on Sunday, November 6th for $10 each.

A Note from the Choir

I am sure that most of you have noticed that our much loved and appreciated choir director, Scott Barker, has not been with us this fall. Scott resigned in August when his regular job become so time-consuming that he had to let something go. He had been commuting twice a week from West Seattle. Scott also bought a house is June and doing some extensive remodeling. He was very sorry to leave both the bell choir and the chancel choir as he enjoyed the people in the choirs and the congregation.

Rich Rucker has stepped in to lead the chancel choir (a huge job) until the Staff-Parish committee can hire another chancel choir director. The bell choir members are also working hard to organize and continue until the Staff-Parish committee finds them a new bell choir director.

Rich and the chancel choir will carry on and do the best they can until a new director arrives. Please let Rich and the choir know that you appreciate them keeping the choir going. Also, if you have a favorite song you’d like to hear, let Rich know.

Joe Ann Rucker

Choir member
