We hope that you and your team find these resources useful to your work. If you have submissions for funding and employment opportunities, please send them to your specialist.

Important Updates

In Case You Missed It
CI’s blog is a resource to help our clients grow as nonprofit projects. We share updates on our own performance, and advice to help others improve as well. We publish these updates about once a month, along with this newsletter. In case you missed it, below is a roundup of our favorite blogs of the past year.
Welcome New Projects
Every quarter, we welcome a new set of fiscally sponsored projects into our community of partners at Community Initiatives. Please take a moment to get to know your newest peers in our network. You may notice an organization that you share something in common with! If you would like an introduction to one of our new project directors, contact your client services manager (formerly your specialist...as the team just got promotions).
  • The Collaborative for Reaching and Teaching the Whole Child seeks to enhance our schools’ capacity to meet the needs of children and educators who work with them by integrating social-emotional dimensions into teaching methods. Visit their website and Facebook pages for more information.
  • El/La Para TransLatinas is a project for transgender Latinas that works to build collective vision and action to improve TransLatinas’ quality of life in the San Francisco Bay Area by forging new paths that reject fear and hate. Visit their website, Facebook and Twitter pages for additional information

OCTOBER featured project

The Mission Science Workshops are bilingual community science centers that provide hands-on science enrichment activities to underserved youth from low-income communities, their schools and families. Neighborhood workshops provide informal spaces for children to participate in experiments, tinkering and construction programs that create authentic learning experiences. This month the organization is celebrating 25 years of service! To honor the organization’s anniversary, the City of San Francisco has declared Thursday, October 27, Mission Science Workshop Day, and is hosting the 25th Anniversary Community Gala at the San Francisco City Hall! Last school year Mission Science Workshop provided services to 10,000 students and over half of these services were free. The Gala will raise funds to keep services free or low-cost and to expand outreach. For a complete Event Page and to buy tickets, visit the organization’s website, then become a fan of their Facebook page!

Corporate Sponsorships and Partnerships
Many of our clients are considering corporate sponsorships, and that can be good for your cause! Business partnerships--whether your local shop or a large corporation--can be complex to navigate and close.
