CCTV volunteers wanted

CCTV volunteers play a vital role in keeping Wellingtonians safe in the city. They keep an eye on what’s happening around town, and let uniformed police know where potential trouble is brewing. You can find out more and read about some of the current volunteers on our website.

Karori Chapels reopen

The Karori Cemetery chapels have been earthquake strengthened, the crematorium renewed, and the stained-glass windows restored as part of our programme to make the city stronger and safer. The site was blessed by mana whenua iwi representatives when it was officially reopened. It’s worth a visit to the chapels, and the scenic surroundings are perfect for an amble. To find out more, visit our earthquake strengthening project page.
