Message from the Director

The Society for Neuroscience annual meeting is one of the biggest conferences for our community - this year will be our 10th anniversary of having an INCF presence! To celebrate this we’re giving out a special edition t-shirt, so stop by the INCF booth (#4112) and pick one up! This SfN also marks the pilot release of KnowledgeSpace, a community encyclopedia developed by us, NIF, BBP and HBP. It will be demoed in the NIF booth (#4115) just across the aisle, so make sure to visit them as well, and our other fellow neuroinformatics exhibitors listed below.

Are you working on an interesting project, or maybe looking for new collaborators? Looking for seed funding or a travel grant? Come by and talk to us, and bring a colleague! Staff onsite are Mathew Abrams, Malin Sandström, Chris Fitzpatrick, Ylva Lillberg, and Helena Ledmyr.

As usual we host demos of neuroinformatics tools in the booth, Sunday through Tuesday.

Join us at the SfN-sponsored neuroinformatics social, chaired by Giorgio Ascoli, on Sunday, November 13, and on Monday, November 14, at 8pm we are co-hosting the INCF US Node social together with NIF, SciCrunch, and GigaScience at the Tipsy Crow. INCF Secretariat staff are also giving talks on science communication at a UCSD event on Sunday evening, and on neuroinformatics training at the “Teaching neuroscience with big data” workshop on Monday morning!

Details for all of these activities can be found below.

We are looking forward to seeing you at SfN!

Launch of community encyclopedia KnowledgeSpace

KnowledgeSpace is a community encyclopedia in development, linking brain research concepts to data, models, and literature. The pilot is developed by INCF, NIF, BBP and HBP. It is an open project and we welcome participation and contributions from members of the global research community. If you want to be involved, come talk to us or send an email to wwong@ncmir.ucsd.edu.

SfN 2016 marks the first official release of KnowledgeSpace! Your feedback is welcome. Live demos of the pilot version will be available in the NIF booth #4115 all exhibit days, 9am-5pm.
