Halloween Candy Collection

Once again we will be collecting Halloween candy for Agape Street Ministry.  The Grade 7 students will be putting together special bags that contain the candy we collect and a beautiful prayer card.  These bags will be distributed by Agape volunteers to women on the streets in the Vancouver east end.  These candy bags help to satisfy sugar cravings and also let the women know that someone cares about them.  Boxes will be placed in all classrooms and students are encouraged to bring in some of their Halloween treats to share with others.

Black, Orange and White Day for our Fall Fair

The Grade Seven class will be sponsoring a Black, Orange and White day on Halloween, Monday, October 31st.  The word “hallow” means to make holy and Hallow’s Eve (or Halloween) is the night before All Saint’s Day.  To mark these days we are inviting Assumption students to leave their uniforms at home and wear black, orange and white colours.  Because we feel it is important to support our Parish events, we are asking all students to please bring a toonie on this day for our Fall Fair.  The money collected will be used to buy gift baskets for the silent auction on behalf of Assumption School families.

Remembering War and Celebrating Peace

The Grade 7 class will lead a Remembrance Day Assembly on Wednesday, November 9th at 2:00 p.m. in our school gym.  The purpose of this assembly is to remember the sacrifices of war and celebrate our peace.  Both the Intermediate and Primary Choirs will be performing in this special assembly.  Parents are more than welcome to join us. Parents who are in attendance are welcome to take their students home after the assembly.
All Assumption students will receive a poppy to wear to our assembly on Wednesday, November 9th.  Donation cans will be available in early November in every classroom and the school office.  Please bring a poppy donation to help the Canadian War Veterans with the many charities they actively support.  Thank you for your generosity.
