October 2016: Letter from Rodger Boothman
For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. I came to you in weakness and fear, with much trembling. My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not rest on men’s wisdom, but on God’s power. (1 Cor. 2:2-5)
I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. (Gal. 2:20)
Knowing Jesus and making Him known: this is what we are all about at CCM—the simple message of God reaching out to sinful people with the life and death of Jesus, the life of Jesus lived out in those he has brought into His Kingdom.
For people who do not know the Jesus of the Bible, we want to present Him as Lord and Savior, the one and only way to know God the Father. For the Christians, we want to present Jesus as Christ and Lord, that the follower of Jesus will have a living relationship with God in Christ and not fall into living by rules and regulations instead of by faith in Christ. (How easy that is to do!)
This presupposes that we are growing in our understanding of the complete work of redemption Jesus accomplished through His life, death, and resurrection from the dead. If you are stalled in that growth and want to get growing again, we can help.
