U-M Receives $200K Extension for Tech-to-Market Program

“With the aim of further establishing Michigan as a leading state for high-tech companies, the Michigan Strategic Fund approved extended funding for “Train the Trainers,” a program managed by the University of Michigan’s Center for Entrepreneurship (CFE). Aided by a grant of approximately $200,000, the program will train entrepreneurs, researchers and inventors while expanding the level of mentoring and teaching of commercialized strategies." Gary Shapiro is president and CEO of the Consumer Technology Association (CTA)™ the U.S. trade association representing more than 2,200 consumer technology companies and which owns and produces CES – The Global Stage for Innovation. Shapiro directs a staff of more than 160 employees and thousands of industry volunteers, leading his organization’s promotion of innovation as a national policy to spur the economy, create jobs and cut the deficit. CTA advocates for a lower deficit, skilled immigration, free trade and policies that support innovative new business models. CTA does not seek government funding for industry.

Compelling Data Story, Stunning Video Secures Pandora Challenge Victory

Two weeks ago, we kicked off a major challenge with Pandora’s President and CFO, Mike Herring. Starting with a killer performance from The Voice Top Ten Finalist, Daniel Passino, Pandora opened up its data sets to University of Michigan students. The winners of the Pandora Challenge would receive an all-expenses-paid trip to New York City to meet top executives from Pandora and Next Big sound.
