From Pastor Chris:
One day Anna and I walked out of the church in the afternoon to a delightful sight! A flock of wild turkeys was walking – very nicely, in single file – in the cross walk leading from the triangular corner exactly in front of the church to Pratt. Cars stopped! Cameras emerged! It was wonderful!!

Then, a couple of weeks later I arrived at church from a meeting in the late afternoon and was greeted by the entire flock having occupied the sidewalk and the landing leading to the back door of the church. (Photos follow.) They were grazing and roosting, and they were gradually migrating toward the back door. In a while they were all gathered on the landing as if waiting for the door to open. I asked them if they were waiting for worship!! I thought of St. Francis preaching to the birds and may have mentioned that God loves them.

Soon, one flew to above the door and scrabbled (walking with wings outstretched like outriggers) to the peak of the roof. Within three minutes they were all up and lining the peak like a picket fence.

Some say they live on Tower Hill. We’ve seen them nestling into the lawns adjacent to the park. We count them every time. Every time there are fourteen.

I am wishing a safe holiday season to our turkey neighbors. My Lakota friend has told be that “turkey medicine” is about generosity and “give-away.” I can’t think of a sweeter message to come from the council of the sky. Blessings flow through us if we only consent to open the gates.

Our very own Morgan Jellison has an opportunity to visit France with the Knox College Choir in 2017!

To make a donation towards his trip and learn more about Morgan's amazing opportunity, please visit his fundraising page by clicking here.

In Morgan's own words: "Since this is both my return to and final year with The Knox College Choir, and since choir tour is a time of personal and musical cohesiveness I would ask that you support me and my fellow singers, if you are able, and help send us to France."

It's almost time for the annual Bazaar & Art Fair!

Saturday, November 5, 9:00am-3:00pm

Our Bazaar & Art Fair is a great place to start AND finish your holiday shopping, so make sure you have it on your calendar!

Located just off of the Green Line in Minneapolis, the Bazaar features wonderful baked goods, jams, jellies, and other goodies from the PPUMC Ovens. You are likely to find a gently-used treasure in the Twice Nice area, and get your hands on some “scrubbies” and other craft items in the Boutique. Shopping is hard work, so be sure and visit the Snack Bar (open 9 am to 1:30 pm) for a yummy treat, breakfast, or a light lunch! The fresh-baked cinnamon rolls go especially fast in the morning…

The Prospect Park Art Fair always offers a wide spectrum of beautifully crafted items at price points to fit any pocketbook: photography, jewelry, Hmong needlework, quilts, rugs, pottery, fused glass… you name it, we’ve probably got an artist/exhibitor offering it for sale.

The Roseville Big Band headlined the October PPUMC Community Concert Series performance on Saturday, 10/8, helping raise money for one of our favorite social service partners, Southeast Seniors of Minneapolis. Known across the region for their wide-ranging repertoire and exceptional musicianship, the ensemble thrilled the audience with big band favorites from Glenn Miller, Woody Herman, Hoagy Carmichael and many others. Toes were tapping and hands were clapping! Thanks to all who were able to attend, and especially to Dr. Glen Newton and the Roseville Big Band!
Tjärnblom, Swedish for "woodland lake flower", is a Scandinavian-style string band featuring a beautiful blend of Nyckelharpa, Octave Mandolin and Harmonium.

The band is comprised of four friends who live in Minneapolis and have played Scandinavian music together for many years. They travel a modern "Snoose Boulevard Highway" in a musical journey, and play a repertoire of both old and new Swedish, Finnish, and Minnesota tunes for dancing and for listening.

This month's beneficiary is Families Moving Forward, an organization helping to end homelessness in the Twin Cities one family at a time.

Celebrating Autumn

THIS MOMENT
by Joy DeHarpporte
When you walk beside the Mississippi
and a gentle breeze shuffles
orange-yellow-red-brown leaves
and all their tints, shades and hues
overhead and underfoot,
When leaves float down their fullness
from oak and elm, beech and birch,
When long needled pines
coat the earth beneath their branches
with     flawless     softness,
When leaves tumble and crunch
underfoot to a walking rhythm-
Then leaves recreate our Minnesota land-
a deep, fertile and productive soil,
Leaves bring a spiritual sound,
an essence of bountiful beauty,
show a tiny bit of the Divine,
the Creator.  Show a holy moment-
          Now.
