The nomination period for the IBPSA-USA Board of Directors is now open! IBPSA-USA holds elections every two years for members of the Board, and we ask candidates to submit nominations for themselves, or others. All persons interested in serving on the board (or wishing to nominate someone) must send a brief bio (4-5 sentences) as well as a CV/resume by December 15th.

Student Travel Awards: IBPSA will grant a number of travel awards of up to 1,000 USD to students presenting peer-reviewed papers. The number of places is limited to a maximum of 5 grants, and as a result is highly competitive.
How to Qualify Software for the 179D Commercial Building Tax Credits
Contributor Ron Judkoff - Chief Architectural Engineer, NREL -- describes how to qualify software under the new rules. Currently, there are two building energy simulation programs authorized by DOE on their qualified software list, and this article is intended to encourage more software developers and vendors to submit their BEMs for approval and placement on the list.
Virtual Building Triathlon Student Design Competition
The DOE-sponsored Virtual Building Triathlon (VBT) student design competition is now open. The competition involves the identification and evaluation of integrated deep retrofit measures for a commercial building located in Cambridge, MA. The competition will be open to individuals or teams of up to 5 people, all of whom must be registered as full-time students of an accredited US college/university in the Fall 2016 semester.
January 28, 2017: Energy Modeling Best Practices and Applications - ASHRAE Winter Conference Course
Co-Sponsored by IBPSA-USA, this course covers the fundamentals of building energy modeling and explains how to use modeling to guide design decisions, with an emphasis on HVAC. This ALI course/seminar may be a suitable resource to help prepare for a Certification exam or earn PDHs for recertification.
