CGC Thanksgiving:
Thanksgiving Day, November 24, you are invited to share in a CGC Family Thanksgiving. Whether your family is far away, you are unable to travel this year, or you just want to stay close to home, we'd love to have you join us! Dinner will be served at 1:00 P.M., and will be pitch-in style. Sign ups will begin in November. Please see Heather Hayden with any questions.
Fall Fest: It's October 31!! Sign-ups are now available for booth volunteers. Please see Laura or Amy in the lobby to sign up to help work a booth!
Also, we are still taking wrapped candy donations through October 30. If you would like to donate candy, please drop is off in the Fall Fest Candy barrel in the lobby. Be watching the bulletin and email updates for more information about Fall Fest. It's going to be a great time for everyone in the family so don't miss it!
Book Club: This month's book club will meet at Monical's to discuss the book Invention of Wings by Sue Monk Kidd. Please join us at 11:30.
Advent Devotional: We are planning to have an Advent Devotional booklet again this year. If there is some way God has worked in your life or a scripture passage that is special to you, would you be willing to write a short article for our church family devotional? You don’t have to be a great writer – just be willing to share your story. As editor, I will be glad to help in any way I can. Please let me know (sallye@centergrovechurch.org) that you are interested so I will know if we have enough writers. Pastor Sally
Attention Chefs!! : The annual Chili Cook-off will be Sunday, November 13 beginning at 5:00 P.M. Contestants will be limited to the first six entries so don’t delay. Entry forms will be available beginning October 9 in the lobby. There is a refundable $10 entry fee. The two winners will be the “People’s Choice” and the “Judges Winner.”
Ticket will be available in the lobby between church services beginning Oct. 16. Individual tickets are $7 each or $20 per family. The menu will be Chili with cornbread and crackers; hot dogs w/bun; veggies with dip;
brownies and cookies.
If you would like to volunteer to be a judge, please contact Peggy Zehr at 535-5401. This is an all church activity that everyone is encouraged to attend.
Save the Date: Pacer Family Night will be January 27, 2017. Be sure to save this on your calendar. The kids will have the opportunity to high-five the team members from the Pacers as they take the court. More information will be coming soon.
Sunday Morning Donuts: Are you looking for a way to serve at CGC? Consider providing donut holes on Sunday morning in Fellowship Hall. There is a clipboard in the kitchen where you can sign up for any Sunday between now and Dec 18. Donuts may be purchased at Marsh on 135 and placed in baskets provided. You can sign up for one or as many as you’d like. Smiles are always a product of providing donuts! Please consider joining our team.
Christmas Variety Show: We are looking for some great acts for this year’s Variety Show. If you are interested in doing an act, singing a song, or some other talent you’d like to feature, please contact Laura Helvie or Amy Hyman soon. Spots will fill up fast so don’t miss this fun event on December 18!
Book Review: So What’s The Difference, by Fritz Ridenour, deals with 20 worldwide religions and how they compare to Christianity. It is written in layman’s terms and is easy to understand. You can just pick out a chapter and delve into it alone or you can read the whole book. I found it to be very informative and interesting. It is found in the non-fiction section, 261.2 Rid.
