Thanks to ME! Games Volunteers

What a Spectacular Event!

The Me! Games organizers would like to thank the room parents, the teachers, the parents who volunteered, the kids who participated, the Dads Club, our friends in Kensington Dads Club for the fabulous tri-tip sandwiches, Heather Salazar for donation of Cliff Bars, and Katie Oliver for donation of Pete's Coffee.

We had an outstanding turn-out to 2nd annual Jog-a-Thon.

An amazing 132 Joggers participated in the Jog-A-Thon this year. Congratulations to 3rd grader, Adam Feiszli, who had the most laps with 31 laps! That's over 3 miles! Adam will receive a $25 gift certificate to Big 5 Sporting Goods for running the most laps.

Remember to get your ME! Games pledges in by Monday, November 4th.

There's still time to collect pledges. A prize of two tickets to the Explortorium will be awarded to the student who raises the most in pledges. Joggers kept track of their laps, so tell all who sponsored, what's due.

All students that raise at least $60 will be awarded with a "Let's Owl Run" T-Shirt. Students who raised $150 will be awarded a "Let's Owl Run" Sweatshirt. Coupon codes to order your T-Shirt online* will be sent home after pledges have been received. Checks should be made to Madera Foundation.

Madera Supports Measure T

November 8 Election Day

The Madera PTA voted to support Measure T in November! YAY! This measure renews support for our schools by contributing $9.8 million dollars a year to fund core academic programs of reading, writing, math and science.

What does it mean for Madera? It will maintain manageable class sizes in the early grades to provide students with the individual attention they need. You can learn more about Measure T here

Measure T is the ballot measure that asks voters to renew the parcel tax that supports public school students in West Contra Costa County. The measure continues the 7.2¢ per square foot of building area that is assessed to local property owners (with exemptions for senior citizens and disabled persons).

Measure T does not increase your taxes – it continues the current local educational funding to maintain programs in local schools. Without Measure T, the district will be forced to make significant cuts to critical programs that our children need.

MASEP Spanish Class

Hola! The Madera After School Enrichment Program (MASEP) parent committee is looking into bringing Spanish back to the program. Because it takes more than one class a week to truly grasp a language, we are taking a temperature check of interest. For example, the Mandarin immersion class is a 50-minute class M-Th before school.

Who would be interested in a similar Spanish Immersion offering? Please indicate your interest here MASEP Spanish Class Interest. Course description included on the google sheet. Questions?  Contact us at masepclasses@gmail.com
