Have a Healthy Halloween
Halloween is just around the corner; for many kids and adults alike it has become a holiday that offers an excuse to eat candy - lots of it.
So what’s wrong with all of that sugar? Lots, actually, including increased risk for diabetes, heart disease and cancer, mood-altering effects and suppression of the immune system.
You know how kids can seem to bounce off of walls when they have too many treats? Sugar is supplying them with artificial energy but what goes up, must also come down. The sugar crash post-Halloween should give us all concern.
So how can you make it through this ghoulishly sweet holiday and avoid a diet slide? On the blog I'm sharing the best and worst Halloween treats; when you just can't stay away, try to choose wisely instead. I'm also sharing ideas for what to hand out at the door instead, to save kids from all that sugar but also to help you avoid the temptation of snacking on mini-chocolate bars in between trick-or-treaters (we all do it!)
I'm also really excited to share with you that I was on Global TV recently talking about how to survive the sugar-rush of Halloween, plus how hard you have to work to keep those indulgent calories off. Here's a link to the video in case you missed me!
And tune in October 27 to Roundhouse Radio. I'lll also be talking about surviving Halloween!
Here's to your health, always!

Happy? Avoid S.A.D.
Now that the days are shorter and the nights longer, our lack of exposure to sunlight can have difficult consequences for some people. If you are finding your mood is low lately, you might be suffering from Seasonal Affective Disorder. Dr. Andrew Eberding has written a very informative blog about recognizing the symptoms of S.A.D. and how you can best get the help you need.
Read this blog.
Dr. Eberding mentions Light Therapy, which we do recommend. We sell S.A.D. lights in the office. Come on by, and book an appointment with Dr. Eberding to learn how to support yourself.
