Will these bones live?
A Sonburst Story
Students praying for campus during Sonburst
Of course, lives were transformed at Sonburst. In fact, when Arul invited students to respond to Jesus on Saturday night, 26 students stood to commit their lives to following Him (watch Arul's talk). But, for me, the highlight of Sonburst came later that night when we asked students, "Will these bones live?"

You may recognize that question from Ezekiel 37 when the Lord asks Ezekiel that question. Ezekiel's response is "Sovereign Lord, only you know." I recognize that question from a dream the Lord gave me 7 or so years ago. In the dream, I was standing on Mills Lawn at Rollins College. The lawn was covered in bones. InterVarsity at Rollins consisted of 1 student and a struggling small group. As I saw the Lawn covered in bones, the Lord and I had the same dialogue that Ezekiel has, then I heard the Lord say to me, as He said to Ezekiel, "Speak (prophesy) to the bones. Say to them, 'Hear the Word of the Lord.'" As I spoke, in the dream, the bones began to come together, then to be joined by sinew and muscle. Eventually, they are filled with breath to become a vast army for the Lord.

As I sat in the back of the room at Sonburst this year, I realized that this dream about Rollins has come to pass! This year, 12 students from Rollins attended Sonburst, and there is a mighty movement of God, an army, on that campus. The Sovereign Lord has brought forth life from dry bones!

That night, students walked around the room to pray for the campuses of Florida, both campuses that have an InterVarsity presence, and those that don't. As I looked at their prayers for revival and renewal, it struck me that God uses students - 18-year-old punks, if you will - to speak to the dry bones of their campuses. God uses students to bring life in dead places, to bring hope in despair, and light in darkness. God uses students. And I have the privilege of witnessing the awesome power of God to transform lives, renew campuses, and develop world changers.

Thank you for being in this with me, with us!

Sponsor a Student, Change a life

While life change is ultimately a process, for many students, conferences begin that journey. Would you consider sponsoring a student to attend a future InterVarsity conference with a gift of $50 or $100?

Thank you for the ways you invest in students!

Gratefully,
