Harold W. Rosenthal Fellowship Applications Now Being Accepted - Deadline November 4, 2016, 11:59pm EST
Applications for this year’s Harold W. Rosenthal Fellowship in International Relations are now being accepted through the Office of Career Services. SIPA can nominate up to three (3) first-year/returning students for the fellowship.
Program Description
Established in 1977, the Harold W. Rosenthal Fellowship was created to expose young scholars of international relations to the inner workings of the U.S. Federal Government and Capitol Hill. The Fellowship honors the memory of Harold Rosenthal, a young Senate staff member who was a victim of international terrorism. As a tribute to his memory, service, and commitment to the profession of international affairs, a select group of graduate students from international relations schools are chosen to become Rosenthal Fellows each year.
The Rosenthal Fellowship offers qualified students the opportunity to spend a summer in Washington, D.C. pursuing professional fellowship positions with a Member of Congress or in the U.S. Federal Government. Fellows receive fellowship placements and, in some cases, financial stipends to support their summer in Washington. Rosenthal Fellows also join the ranks of a growing and vibrant alumni network, whose members span the globe.
Placements vary from year to year. Past placements include the United States Congress, U.S. Department of State, U.S. Department of Defense, and U.S. Department of the Treasury.
The program also helps to integrate Fellows into the larger international affairs community in Washington. In addition to receiving an internship placement, opportunities available to Fellows include:
- Rosenthal Roundtables: Throughout the summer, the Fellowship organizes international affairs discussions and professional development panels. Fellows have the opportunity to meet with Rosenthal alumni, as well as other members of the private, public, and academic sectors.
- European Visitors Program (EVP): Additionally, Fellows are given preferred consideration for the EVP, which is jointly sponsored by the European Commission and the European Parliament. The EVP selects at least one Rosenthal Fellow almost every year.
For more information about the Fellowship program and interview timeline, visit: http://www.rosenthalfellowship.org/. (The information on their website will continue to be updated.)
Application Information
