Welcome to Term 4!

We welcome everyone back after the school holidays - which for us were taken up with the Royal Show and 3 days of Day Camps.  The Henry family had a great Royal in the showjumping classes with Hannah, Nell and Ben placing in many classes, including the six bar and family by proxy, Jacqui’s daughter Chloe won Champ Senior Rider in the show classes and also won and placed in the show hack classes.

Second week of the holidays we had three Day Camps and we hope all of the 38 children that attended had a good time and don’t forget to finish off your workbooks!!! Great to see some new enrolments for term four coming from our Camp attendees – welcome to the family!

Last chance for our day camps for this year will be our Christmas Camp proposed for December 20th, 21st & 22nd.

Huge congrats to Jo Blomquist who won the Coach of the Year! Sara Cann who was nominated for Athlete of the year, our super Deb Colling who was nominated for Volunteer of the year and Jaye Barnesby-Buie, Eloise Bolam, Mercedes Portaro and Sara Cann who made up the CTRC Team that competed at the RDA State Dressage Champs and were nominated for Team of the Year!! We are super proud of you all and each of you are great ambassadors for our centre!!
RDA National Dressage Video Championships

In September M’Liss arranged for Nicholas, Jaye, Eloise, Mercedes, Tamara and Sara to enter this national Competition.  The idea being that all riders can compete in a National competition without having to travel both horses and riders to a destination on the other side of the country. All horses were washed and plaited as if they were going to a competition and were beautifully presented. The individual tests were recorded under the guidelines as laid down by the organisers.  Many thanks to all the parents and volunteers who helped out on the weekend.  We are now eagerly awaiting the results!!!!
The AGM was held on September 21st at the Albion Hotel. We thank our past and current Board Members for attending as well as many friends of CTRC.  The 2016 Annual report and Audited financials were presented and the following members appointed to the Board for the next 12 months.

President: Xander van Beusekom
Secretary: Yvonne Ardley
Treasurer: Jo Bunney

Committee:

Shirley Derrick, Alison Young, Phil Andrew, Greg Bunney, Belinda van Knoll, Tom Jones, Courtney Bergersen & Hannah Henry.

Contact details for all the Board members are available in the office and they are all most happy to be contacted should anyone wish too.  They are all very committed to CTRC and are all working towards providing a stable and prosperous future for CTRC.

2015/2016 Annual Report

Check out our Annual report! It includes Tom Jones’s (President) entertaining report on the year as well as M’Liss’s overview on the year that was. Jacqui who has only been acting CEO a short time also writes from her perspective of joining the CTCR family.

The report also gives a financial summary of how we are travelling as well as provides a new reader with an overview of what we are all about.  This is not an arduous read, quite the opposite and we would encourage our clients and friends to look it over!

Meet Courtney Bergersen

My name is Courtney and this is my second year serving on the board for CTRC! I came upon the centre when I was still at university and had some free time on my hands, and a desire to help out. The second I stepped foot into the stables, I knew that I had discovered a wonderful place that does amazing things for people. In fact, my first day at the stables, I met the famous M'liss and she took me down to the undercover riding area. She pointed out another famous face at the centre, Sara Cann who was training with her beloved choco in the arena. Sara was goofing around with Choco, and Choco was having an absolute ball. I'll never forget the way M'liss' eyes got all teary at the special bond in front of her - she must be so proud of everything she has accomplished! From that point onwards, I knew it was my job to share these amazing stories to the community through our facebook page, our newsletter and our reports.

I am writing this piece all the way from Orlando, Florida! In August, I accepted an internship at Walt Disney World and I work as a Park Greeter for the Disney Animal Kingdom. It's a bit of challenge to help write and edit the newsletter all the way from the United States - but I would not have it any other way.

Below is one of the challenges I completed at Walt Disney World - go to all four parks in one day! We got rained on several times, and were completely knackered at the end of the day but so proud to call Disney World home for now!
