Hello!

I am writing to you from a cool, rainy Washington state, just outside of Seattle. The last few days a massive storm as pummeled the Pacific Northwest, but thankfully left us untouched.

Since our last newsletter we traveled thru western Montana and visited Glacier National Park, which Tom and I both thought might have been our favorite National Park so far! With it's majestic mountains all around we were in constant awe.

After Glacier National Park, we finally crossed the Rocky Mountains, zipped across that little piece of Idaho that touches Canada, and made it into Washington, just in time for harvest season!

We spent a few days near Spokane before heading to the middle of the state (which they still refer to as "Eastern Washington") where we explored the Wild Horse Monument, the Hanford Nuclear site, the Columbia River Valley, ancient glacial lakes and one of the best firework shows we've every seen for Farmer-Consumer Appreciation Day.

We crossed the Cascades and stopped in the Bavarian town of Leavenworth - known for their famous beer & brats!

Then it was on to Whidbey Island, where we spent a few weeks reconnecting with the land Tom where was born. His Dad flew for the Navy on Whidbey back in the day. They moved from the island when he was still pretty young, but family friends and faint memories have lingered.

While on Whidbey we also learned some new skills: forging, juggling, and grape picking!
