FINAL PLAYREADING OF THE YEAR
+ OUR NEARLY-END-OF-YEAR CELEBRATION!
LAST CHANCE TEXACO by Peter Maloney. Drama.
Directed by Jonathan Pedler. Featuring Tia Landeg, Caitlyn Stirling, and Amanda Dawes.
Peter Maloney’s Last Chance Texaco is a haunting, lyrical play set in a rundown gas station run by a mother and daughter in a small Texas town in the buckle of the Bible Belt, where white trash and religion are not strange bedfellows.
Late one night in central East Texas, a dispirited New York sophisticate way out of her element has a flat tyre in the middle of nowhere and barely makes it into Cissy’s run-down service station. As the tyre gets patched they begin to share about their lives, but the vibe shifts dramatically with the entrance of Verna, a dishevelled harridan with a mean fundamentalist streak who eyes strangers with suspicion and minces no words in expressing her moral outrage.
Presented together with
MONEY TALKS by Jason Milligan. Comedy.
Directed by Tia Landeg. Featuring Amanda Dawes, Jonathan Pedler and Caitlyn Stirling.
Thanks to a well meaning mutual friend, sophisticated Yolanda has a blind date with dowdy City budget planner Clark.
Their meeting in a downtown pub begins pleasantly enough, but turns into the blind date from hell when Yolanda is forced to fight for her dignity and her sanity.
Nachos & beer will never taste the same!
