Auvergne

Walking in the Auvergne:

The Auvergne has a landscape that has been forged by volcanic eruptions in the very heart of France. The Auvergne's amazing landscape includes volcanic and glacial lakes, volcanic domes, rocky cliffs, secluded valleys and dramatic waterfalls. The variation of landscape provides hills to suit every walker; from the domes of the volcanic Chain des Puys to the steep ridges of the Cantal mountains. And it's one of the least populated regions in Europe.

Puy en Velay

Puy en Velay

The self guided walking holiday Tranquil Auvergne Trail starts and finishes in the world heritage town of Puy en Velay in the Haute Loire.
Puy en Velay is well known for its well preserved architecture, with some unique religious heritage features.
Pilgrims have been coming to Le Puy for hundreds of years; no pilgrimage was more frequented in the Middle Ages with Charlemagne, the first Holy Roman Emperor, visiting in 772 and 800. The legendary early shrine on Mons Anicius seems to predate the founding of an early church of Our Lady of Le Puy at Anicium. On top of the hill was a megalithic standing stone and the church was constructed around it, but by the 8th century the stone had been broken up and incorporated into the floor of the church in a section called the Chambre Angelique. Saint-Michel d'Aiguilhe chapel is on a volcanic formation 85m high and is reached via 268 steps carved into the rock.

If you have been affected by SPAM e-mails that appear to come from one of our e-mail addresses, please read our communication in full here.
You may have heard in the news recently about high profile corporate data breaches such as LinkedIn and Yahoo. It was through one such breach that enabled someone to hack one of our e-mail accounts.

Needless to say we have taken steps to avoid this happening in the future by changing passwords etc. However, e-mail addresses contained within that account were acquired and by the spoofing of our email address they can send out e-mails that look like they are sent from our e-mail address.

Please note that there has not been a breach of our customer database. This will have mainly only affected a handful of customers; some people that have entered our competitions and some walking group representatives.
If you believe you have been affected please read our communication in full here.

Brexit

Brexit

As anyone living in the UK will be fully aware, we are now heading towards a time when we will have left the European Union or Brexit, as it has been coined.

So how will this affect us or our customers? Well, no-one really knows yet what the full outcome of Bexit to the UK economy will mean. We also do not know what the value of the pound will be versus the Euro and other currencies in the future.

However, what we do know is that the drop in the value of the pound this year has meant that our profit margins were getting wiped out. We will therefore no longer be able to fix and sustain a price for a holiday for 12 months as we have done in the past.

We are therefore producing the brochure this year with an insert price list that will be 'correct at time of going to press' and we will be reviewing prices throughout the year.
So, if you believe the pound is going to continue to fall, it may be advisable to book early to get the best price!
