2016-17 Competitive Events Guide

Conference season is upon us! Please make sure you and your students are referring to these resources when preparing for the 2016-17 district and state STAR events.  Please email Pamela Grega at Pamela.Grega@tn.gov if you have any questions.

Tennessee FCCLA State Officer Application

The Tennessee FCCLA State Officer Application is now available for students interested in serving FCCLA as a State Officer. Tennessee FCCLA encourages all dynamic, leading, FCCLA members to apply! You can find the application here

As an adviser, you will play an important role in the state officer candidate's experience. It is very important that you be supportive and encouraging to a student that has expressed interest, or that you have identified as a qualified and deserving individual.

Duties during the officer's year of duty are outlined in the state officer application.

State Leadership Conference Update

Similar to last year, in preparation for the FCCLA State Leadership Conference, a portal will be available for advisers to reserve their hotel rooms for the conference. In order to access this portal when it becomes live, the Chattanooga Visitor's Bureau has suggested that advisers provide the following website, www.chattnoogacvb.com, to their respective IT departments to ensure the site is not blocked on their district servers.

Registration for hotel rooms will be available Feb. 14, 2017 and will close March 6, 2017. Please plan accordingly!

Nashville Predators FCCLA Night

Join Tennessee FCCLA and the Nashville Predators at the Diversified Skills and FCCLA night on Dec. 6, 2016! Attendees will have opportunities to participate in panel discussions, behind the scenes tours, and discounted game tickets.

The deadline to register is Nov. 18! Register soon as space is limited!

If you have any questions, contact Mickey Hock at 615-770-2352.

Power of One

Last school year, over 1,900 students participated in Power of One. We are looking forward to seeing more completions this year. In anticipation, we will be sending electronic certificates to chapter advisers who have students complete the 5 units. The submission process and the deadlines (March 1 for the Chapter Adviser to Submit and April 1 for the State Adviser to approve) will be the same. These students will be recognized online as well as during NLC. If you are interested in receiving these electronic certificates for your State Meeting, please contact Beth Carpenter at bcarpenter@fcclainc.org.

Battle of the Belt

Tennessee FCCLA is teaming up with the Department of Health, Division of Family Health and Wellness/Injury and Violence Prevention, to offer their program, Battle of the Belt. The program is designed to raise awareness and raise the use of teen seat belt use. Battle of the Belt registration begins on Dec. 8, 2017 with the program continuing through the spring semester.

Please visit the Battle of the Belt website or contact Terry Love at Terrence.Love@tn.gov for more information.
