Winter has arrived across Alaska. Are you prepared for colder, harsher weather? Darker days and nights? Icy roads and footing? Most of this just means we need to slow down so we can dress appropriately, pack our flashlights and headlamps, and take it easy when we're trying to get somewhere. A few extra layers and minutes will keep you safe.

Philanthropy and fun for Alyeska,
TAPS teams

While TAPS transports the oil that helps fuel Alaska's economy and the nation's energy security, Alyeska employees and their TAPS contractor counterparts provide energy for their respective communities across Alaska with inspired giving and volunteering.

Alyeska and its staff provide hundreds of hours of volunteer time and hundreds of thousands of dollars to their philanthropic passions. Those include one-day events like Track & Field Day in Fairbanks and the Heart Walk in Anchorage, multi-week United Way workplace campaigns, yearlong board of director commitments, building a playground in Valdez, reading in schools and numerous food drives in multiple areas. That's what #TAPSPRIDE and Alyeska's community connections are all about.

A commitment to environmental protection and
safety drives Alyeska, TAPS contractors

Alyeska’s people have an unwavering commitment to protecting Alaska’s environment. TAPS oil movements in 2016 continued a trend of minimizing environmental impact. Teams work constantly to protect wildlife, fish streams and the spectacular landscapes that TAPS travels along. And each year, teams conduct more than 150 readiness and response drills along the pipeline and in Prince William Sound to prepare for any emergency.

Usually elusive, this wolverine is effusive!

There was a rare and cool sight along TAPS recently: A wolverine dashing through the snow! This wolverine was spotted and photographed last week near Slope Mountain and Pump Station 3 by Austin Johnson, Alyeska Projects Environmental Coordinator.
