What would you do if your salary was cut by 40% but your household bills increased?

Since 2010 Haringey Council has saved around £160 million after the Government cut our budget, in real terms by 40%. We now employ 45% fewer staff, have 12 fewer buildings and share IT services with Camden and Islington councils. Yet with demand rising for services in areas like adult social care and emergency housing further savings are required.
Tell us what you think should be Haringey’s future spending priorities by Sunday 20 November.

Stars of the stage and screen to perform at benefit night for Mind in Haringey

A top-class line up will take to the stage of the Park Theatre in Finsbury Park on Sunday 6 November to raise funds for mental health charity Mind in Haringey. Among the stars of Transforming Minds will be Lee Latchford-Evans from pop band Steps and West End actress Alexandra Waite-Roberts (Top Hat, Mary Poppins).

Mind in Haringey is presenting this event in partnership with Siemens to fund a range of services for Haringey residents, including counselling, wellbeing activities and mental health first aid training.

Lynette Charles, CEO of Mind in Haringey, said: "Around one in four of us face a mental health problem every year. We hope to raise £10,000 on 6 November so we can continue to support Haringey people and promote wellbeing in the local community."

Tickets are available at £20 (price includes drinks and canapes).

Do you want to live in a community where residents care and look out for each other?

Haringey currently has 309 Neighbourhood Watches with an estimated 19,000 members. Watch members say being part of a Neighbourhood Watch has helped to reduce crime and the opportunity for crime, helped to reassure residents and reduce their fear of crime, encouraged neighbours to form friendships and build a stronger community.

Benefits of being part of Neighbourhood Watch include receiving regular and timely crime prevention advice and newsletters, support from your local Safer Neighbourhoods Team for meetings and events and free Neighbourhood Watch Window stickers and street signs.

If you would like to start a Neighbourhood Watch in your street or estate, or would like further information, please contact: Pauline Syddell, Neighbourhood Watch Link Manager, 020 8721 6803 / pauline.syddell@met.police.uk

Fixed penalty fines

This month we raised the fines for fly-tipping in Haringey from £80 to £400 and this week we issued the 1st £400 fixed penalty notice to a van driver who dumped his old furniture on Millicent Fawcett Ct, Tottenham, N17. We won’t tolerate fly-tipping on our streets

You can report rubbish on the streets and get it cleaned up through My Account. Sign up here, it takes a few seconds.
