Date: Thursday, November 3, 2016
Time: 11 a.m.
Location: South Huron Recreation Centre, 94 Victoria Street East, Exeter, Ontario
This notice is to let you know that the Chairman of the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority (ABCA) Board of Directors, at the written request of one-third of the Directors, has called a special meeting of the Board of Directors.

This special Board meeting is to take place on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at 11 a.m. at South Huron Recreation Centre, 94 Victoria Street East, Exeter, Ontario.

The meeting business is that the ABCA Board of Directors consider this NOTICE OF MOTION:

RESOLVED, THAT the ABCA Board of Directors declares that it does NOT intend to implement the ABCA Shoreline Development Guidelines of Section 7.8 in the report (pages 113-117) in its proposed form and does not endorse the underlying principle of “managed retreat” and the unilateral prohibition of any shoreline protection works.

The outcome of the Board of Directors’ special meeting will be shared with all subscribers to this newsletter.

Meeting format

Members of the public are welcome to attend and observe board deliberations at the Special Meeting and, as with all meetings of the Board, the rules of procedure adhere to the current edition of Bourinot’s Rules of Order. The Special Meeting has been moved to the South Huron Recreation Centre location in Exeter in acknowledgement of public interest in the draft Consultant Recommendation Report prepared by consultants doing technical work for the 2015-2017 Update of the Shoreline Management Plan (SMP).

While this working meeting of the Board of Directors is open to the public it has been called so Directors can discuss and vote upon the motion. It is not being held as a ‘public meeting’ with mechanisms for public remarks – however, public meetings in open-house format will be held in 2017 when there is commencement of shoreline management draft local policy development.

It was previously posted that the ABCA Board of Directors would consider the motion at the regularly scheduled board meeting on Thursday, November 24, 2016. However, as many members of the public have shared their belief in the importance of receiving timely clarity on the Board’s position on the policies proposed by the consultants in the draft report, the Board of Directors wants to accommodate this public request and is providing notice through this email, as well as through other avenues.
