2017 Washington County 4-H College Scholarship Information

The goal of the Washington County Scholarship program is to award financial assistance to seniors actively participating in the Washington County 4-H program who plan to pursue post-secondary higher education. Active participation means enrolling on time in a club and then being involved with all meetings and activities at least 75% of the time. A leader will asked to verify this. Scholarship applicants must have been active in 4-H projects and activities for at least 2 years. They must demonstrate how 4-H has contributed to their development. The Record book scholarship is only open to seniors who turn in record books by October 3rd.

Applications for either the Record Book Scholarship of the Megargel Scholarship must be turned in by Monday April 3 at 4pm to the Extension office. To be accepted, application must be complete, with all pages filled out, labeled inside a notebook or binder, signed by applicant, parent and leader. Late applications will not be accepted. Applicants scoring 80% or higher will be called for an oral interview that will follow about 2 weeks later.

There will be 1 to 3 scholarships awarded that range from $500 to $1500. Amounts to be awarded depend on the funds earned from the Walk-a-Thon that takes place the third Saturday in June 2017 and money given by the 4-H Foundation.
