Process Translated

There we were, 100+ people in downtown Oakland in our pantsuits trying to figure it all out.

Flash mobs are almost like ad campaigns, but without a whole production team. Maybe there’s a producer or maybe there’s just my friend Whitney who said “hey I sent out some emails and I think we’re going to have a flash mob for Hillary Clinton. You should come.”

It was all so unpredictable; the random chaos, the dance we practiced once, the people who said they would come who didn’t, and the people who just showed up that no one knew.  And then there was the Saturday morning capoeira club that was already there so they joined in.

I like to shoot in this chaos and movement. I try to create it on set. It’s where I’m happiest and where we find the best photographs. Let the chaos ensue. Let the risks happen. At those edges and in those moments are exactly where my photographs are. Our flash mob created that for me.
