ABOUT THAT PEN NAME
Some of you asked about the TS Vale pen name. Here's the inside scoop:
In Latin, the word "vale" is an active statement. It means, "Be well! Be strong!"
That was the main appeal for me. What a great thing to wish for everyone, right? But I also liked how "vale" sounds like "veil" ... so, you know. A veiled reference. A hint of mystery. Heh.
The "TS" part adds some extra fun — well, for word-nerd me, anyway (grin). Besides being part of my name, TS is a nod to poet T. S. Eliot ... whose famous poem "The Hollow Men" has that often-quoted apocalyptic stanza that begins, "This is how the world ends...". (For example: Stephen King used it in The Stand.)
So yeah. TS Vale for the dark, dystopian, and / or apocalyptic science fiction and fantasy books.
